Ford Reduces Prices of the EcoSport Following the Launch of the Vitara Brezza
We reported in detail when Ford showcased the new model Ford EcoSport at this year in India with a slew of additional features and an increase in power.The EcoSport, which has been enjoying a smooth run in India till now, is being threatened by the Maruti VitaraBrezza that was launched recently. Responding to the launch of Maruti’s new compact SUV, Ford India has slashed prices of the EcoSport. The petrol variant starts at INR 6.68 lacs while the diesel now starts at INR 7.28 lacs. Price
The petrol powered variants now start at INR 6.68 lacs while the diesel variants are now priced INR 7.28 lacs onwards. Here’s the updated price list of the compact SUV –

Specs & Features
As we just said, the 2016 EcoSport boasts of some significant updates under the hood. The diesel engine, which pumps out peak power-torque of 91 PS-204 Nm, will now produce 100 PS-215 Nm.

Other than increased power and torque for the Diesel variant, the 2016 EcoSport also feature some additional equipment. The top-end Titanium trim features automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. The entry-level variant, on the other hand, gets a driver-side airbag as a standard feature. Here’s the complete variant-wise list of the additional features that will be offered with updated Ford EcoSport:
- Ambiente: 12V Power socket and rear folding seats
- Trend: ABS+EBD
- Trend+ (New Variant): In addition to the features offered on the Trend trim, this will get dual front airbags, auto aicon, distance to empty, outside temp display, econometer, average speed, avg fuel efficiency, fog lamps, chrome grille, roof rails, signature light guide for the headlamps.
- Titanium: Smart Key, Keyless entry, Push button start
- Titanium+: Auto wipers, auto headlamps, daytime running lights, interior chrome pack, leather-wrapped handbrake.

Styling
As aforementioned, the visual highlight of the Europe-spec 2015 Ford EcoSport is the absence of the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The registration plate has moved to the tailgate and the rear bumper now gets a faux skid plate. However, the India-spec variant misses out on this major styling update and the only new bits here are the DRLs and the addition of ‘Golden Bronze’ paint option.
