The new Mercedes AMG G63 facelift has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 3.60 Crore, ex-showroom. G-Wagon is an iconic luxury off-roading SUV. Many celebrities own it across the world. It bears a distinct road presence due to its imposing demeanour and boxy silhouette. A monsterous on- and off-roading machine, it often graces the garages of many top celebrities in India and abroad. The luxury SUV has been updated for our market. Let us take a look at the details of what’s new.
New Mercedes AMG G63 Facelift Launched
On the outside, the new G-Wagon boasts minor updates. This includes a redesigned bumper with vertical slats, dark chrome grille, rounded A-pillars and a new lip on the windshield. The side profile is largely the same with elegant alloy wheels, an upright stance, side steps for easier ingress and egress traits, and curve-less body panels. At the rear, there is an optional carbon-fibre spare wheel cover. These elements will help us distinguish the facelift version from the outgoing model. It still carries that iconic G-Wagon appearance.
On the inside, there are many amenities to pamper the customers. For instance, it gets a new keyless entry and go function, the same MBUX infotainment system as the GLS facelift including two 12.3-inch displays – one for the infotainment and one for the driver’s instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-speaker 760 Watt Burmester sound system, and a new three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel. Thereafter, the off-road ‘control centre’ has been tweaked to display key functions and other functionalities include temperature-controlled cup holders and wireless mobile charger. Overall, owners are taken care of.

The other major update is under that tall and upright hood. It now carries a 4.0-litre V8 turbo petrol mill with 48-volt mild hybrid tech. The power and torque outputs stand at a cool 585 hp and 850 Nm of peak power and torque. An additional boost of 22 hp is available with the electrified powertrain. Performing the transmission duties is a 9-speed automatic gearbox. It powers all four wheels. This propels the butch SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds. The top speed is limited to a decent 220 km/h which can be pushed to 240 km/h with the AMG Performance package.
