After the Alto, the Wagon R is one of the most widely sold cars for Maruti Suzuki in India. With this generation update, the Wagon R is set to become quite a lot better in terms of its design, features, safety and mileage.

The testing of the new Wagon R is already underway in India. As a result, we expect that Maruti is likely to launch the next-generation Wagon R in India sometime during the latter half of this year. One of the biggest unique selling point for the Wagon R is its highly aggressive price. With the generation update, Maruti is likely to retain that. Expect the prices of this hatchback to start from INR 3.5 lakh. Consequently, the top of the line variant will retail around the mark of INR 5.5 Lakh.

New Maruti Wagon R: A Quick Overview
The 2018 Wagon R is going to get Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform. The exterior design of this hatchback is going to get a major overhaul. That said, Maruti will retain the car’s characteristic tall boy design. We expect the design to be simple, neat and clean. A similar theme will follow for the interior of the vehicle as well. The engine specifications of the 2018 Maruti Wagon R will remain the same as before. The hatchback will get a 1.0-litre K-Series, 3-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 67 BHP along with 91 Nm of peak torque. The new Wagon R will get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Maruti will also provide a 5-speed AMT gearbox as well. Thanks to the lighter HEARTECT platform, expect the fuel efficiency of the Wagon R to improve. The current generation model promises a fuel efficiency figure of 20 km/l.
