This drag race competition between the new Maruti Swift and Fronx is quite exciting. YouTubers often adopt the method of drag race competition to test the straight-line acceleration of two cars. Now, this might not be the ideal method, but such videos gain a lot of traction on social media platforms. Swift is the newest entrant in Maruti’s India lineup. The fourth-generation Swift comes with a new engine. On the other hand, the Fronx is a crossover SUV based on the Baleno. Let us take a look at the details of this drag race.
New Maruti Swift vs Fronx Drag Race
This drag race comes from MRD Cars on YouTube. The host has the two vehicles side by side. For the first round, the competitors switch on the AC. On the count of three, both parties accelerate hard. The Fronx takes a slight lead in the beginning but the Swift stays close to it. After a while, the Swift overtakes it and remains ahead for a long time. Both cars kept overtaking each other and the result goes in favour of the Swift by the slightest of margins. In the subsequent round, the Fronx gained a lead in the beginning but the Swift was able to cross it after around 120 km/h. Hence, both these cars offer almost similar performance.
Specs Comparison
The new Maruti Swift comes with a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine which makes 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The one used in this race had a manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Fronx in this race possesses a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K Series engine which produces slightly higher 90 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox. Therefore, the Fronx has a slight edge but it is also marginally heavier. That balances things out quite well.

Our View
I know that the trend of drag races has been on the rise in recent times. However, I don’t advocate for such methods to test the performance of your cars. Firstly, most YouTubers do such races on roads which are not properly constructed. Hence, the chances of accidents are high. In fact, even in this video, we see such a situation crop up where a Honda Jazz suddenly appears in front of the Fronx. Secondly, cars are not meant to be driven in this manner in everyday scenarios. I would advise my readers to be mindful of such activities and never imitate these content creators.
