Maruti Suzuki is known for making some of the most fuel-efficient vehicles which is the prime reason for its massive success in our market.
The new Maruti Swift and even the next-gen Dzire are likely to become the most fuel-efficient cars in India ever. Some reports online suggest that they could boast a mileage of 35-40 km/l. These numbers are unheard of. Swift and Dzire are already among the top-selling vehicles in the market for a long time now. People have embraced these like anything. To Maruti’s credit, it has kept updating these models at regular intervals to keep the competition at bay and the customers happy. But the next-gen models could change the game completely.

New Maruti Swift and Dzire
On the back of Maruti Suzuki’s joint venture with Toyota, we have seen strong hybrids making into the options of the powertrains of its latest products including the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki develops fuel-efficient engines and the addition of hybrid components takes the mileage figures to a whole new level. Because of that, the new Swift and Dzire could offer an enticing ARAI-rated mileage of around 35-40 km/l.

Note that Toyota and Maruti Suzuki are in the process of localising the hybrid technology extensively to make it feasible and financially viable for smaller cars like the hatchback and compact sedan. Currently, the price difference between the mild and strong hybrid variants of the Grand Vitara is quite high (around Rs 2.60 lakh). With heavily localised components, Maruti will ideally try to bring it down to around Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 lakh. That will make Swift more attractive.

Also, with the massive increase in mileage from the current around 22 km/l for Swift and 24 km/l for Dzire to around 35-40 km/l, the running costs will offset the initial high cost in a quick time. As per reports online, we might see the launch of the new Maruti Swift and Dzire in our market in the first quarter of 2024. Let us see how well the customers receive them once they are launched.
