A media house has performed the acceleration test of the new Maruti Swift. The iconic hatchback finds itself in its fourth generation and was launched a few days ago. There are some distinct upgrades in comparison to the outgoing model. These include aesthetic enhancements, new features, higher safety equipment and a brand-new mild hybrid engine with impressive mileage figures. For now, let us see how fast the new Swift clocks this sprint.
New Maruti Swift Acceleration Test
This post stems from promeetghosh14 on Instagram. The standard settings are chosen – Traction Control Off and AC Off. Also, this is the 5-speed manual transmission version. The driver presses the accelerator hard and releases the clutch pedal suddenly at the start of the sprint. He displays aggressive gearshifts, taking the vehicle close to its redline for maximum acceleration. From the beginning of the race, the timer had been started. The video claims that it took the new Maruti Swift 12.99 seconds to hit 100 kmph. However, the netizens were quick to spot that it actually took longer and the timer stopped way before reaching 100 kmph. Hence, we could estimate the time to be somewhere around 13.5 seconds.

Our View
While it is quite common for YouTubers to perform acceleration tests of modern cars, I must mention here that it is not that relevant in a car of this segment. Every car has a purpose and an application. Swift is for city dwellers who want a comfortable urban car with some highway runs. People don’t need it for insane acceleration. Hence, doing such tests on a city car is a bit superfluous. Also, a car is not meant to be driven in this fashion every day. Therefore, no point in attempting such sprints yourself. You can watch such videos once where this test has been performed by a reviewer and that should be it. Don’t imitate such content creators.
