Maruti Suzuki plans to unveil 2 new SUVs at the Auto Expo 2023 which is slated to take place in January 2023. The pandemic caused the last year’s edition to get cancelled. That is why this year, things could be exciting as carmakers will have tons of products to showcase. At this event, OEMs bring their upcoming products and technology for people to witness and experience. In Maruti’s camp, the two most-awaited and hyped-up products will be the Jimny and YTB (SUV crossover version based on the Baleno).

Maruti to Unveil 2 New SUVs at the Auto Expo 2023
Maruti Jimny
Jimny has been in the news for a long time now. Maruti already manufactures the Jimny in India for exports. For the Indian market, the practical 5-door version has been spotted testing multiple times. It is a world-renowned affordable 4×4 SUV that aims to rival the Mahindra Thar in our market. In international markets, the Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces around 103 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. There is a 5-speed MT gearbox on offer.

Maruti YTB
Aiming to leverage the growing trend of SUVs, Maruti also plans to launch a crossover/SUV. While it will share aplenty with the Baleno, Maruti will make conscious efforts to make it look distinct. It will start with the name. While the internal name is YTB, we are certain that it will be changed to something more meaningful by the time MSIL decides to unveil it. The crossover SUV will most likely replace the S-Cross in our market.

The upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross will feature the 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol engine that was last seen on the now-discontinued Baleno RS. This could produce 102 hp and 150 Nm of peak power and torque. There could be options of choosing between a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. In addition to that, we might also see the 1.5-litre petrol engine will mild hybrid tech like on the Grand Vitara. The exact specifications will be revealed closer to the launch.
