Maruti Grand Vitara is one of the most popular mid-size SUVs in our country despite stiff competition in this space
The new Maruti Grand Vitara has finally been spotted testing on our roads. Now, it remains to be seen whether this is the facelift iteration of the existing model or a new 7-seat configuration of the existing version. In any case, this is quite exciting. The mid-size SUV space in our market has been brutally competitive. This is because there is a car from just about every major auto giant in this rapidly expanding segment. Hence, everyone wants a piece of the pie. The main rivals include Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. For now, let us take a look at the details of the spied SUV.
New Maruti Grand Vitara Spied – Facelift or 7-Seater?
The specifics of this case stem from motoring_world on Instagram. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged SUV plying on the road amidst heavy traffic. Look closely and you will recognize the resemblance of the front fascia with the existing Grand Vitara. That clearly hints at the possibility of it either being a facelift to the mid-size SUV or a 7-seat iteration. Note that there are cars like the Kia Carens, Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus in this segment which have 7 seats.
Hence, there is a clear market for this body type. As a result, it is possible that the largest carmaker in the country might be exploring this segment. Nevertheless, the new SUV doesn’t look like anything else. Therefore, it is also possible that we might be getting the updated version of the Grand Vitara to ensure that it possesses the latest amenities to dominate this segment. While the front and rear sections are completely wrapped in a heavy covering, a brief glimpse inside the cabin showcased a free-standing large touchscreen infotainment display on the centre of the dashboard. I am sure that we will get to know more details in the coming days.
My View
In all honesty, it is quite difficult to ascertain the exact model in this video. Still, I don’t believe it could be anything else other than the facelifted Grand Vitara or the 7-seat Grand Vitara. In both cases, the mid-size SUV segment is about to get even more heated. I shall keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
