New Maruti Car which was spied recently, might be known as S-Presso. Basically, it is the Future S-Concept shown at the Auto Expo, and will be launched soon
Recently, spy shots of an unknown Maruti Suzuki hatchback were leaked. It was widely believed to be the new Alto, which would be completely different from the current one. But, that’s wrong.
ET reports that the new Maruti car will be called S-Presso. It will be a crossover/hatchback type placed above the Alto. Further, it will rival the likes of Renault Kwid, which is another crossover/hatchback.
Another hatchback to Maruti’s lineup? Basically, new Maruti car or the S-Presso will be an alternative to buyers opting for something a bit more bigger than Alto and not that expensive as well.

Maruti S-Presso was earlier reported to be a bigger Alto. However, the Alto 800 has already been updated with BS-6 engine. The Alto K10 which gets a 1.0 litre petrol engine is yet to be updated.
ET report further states that this new car will mostly be launched in Festive season 2019. If the launch is stated in 3-4 months, the car will be almost ready and might be seen soon in a production avatar.
S-Presso will be available only with a 1.0 litre petrol engine, that is BS-6 compliant. The same engine comes on WagonR and Alto, producing 67 BHP and 91 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed MT with the option of a 5-speed AMT.

Expect the feature list of WagonR to come onboard the S-Presso. So, you can get a touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment, USB charger, a new MID Cluster and much more. Safety features will include dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, front passenger seat belt reminder and speed alert system as standard fitments.
Since it will go against Renault Kwid, we can expect the prices of Maruti S-Presso to be well under Rs 5 Lakhs. Its top-end variants will overlap the prices of base and mid-spec variants of WagonR and Celerio.
