YouTubers often adopt the method of drag race competition to test the performances of popular cars and this is the latest example of it.
This drag race between the new and old Maruti Brezza shows some weird results. Brezza is a successful and one of the top-selling compact SUVs in our market. In fact, it also bears the title of the safest car in Maruti’s stable in India as the last-gen model got 4 stars at the Global NCAP. But the new model has not yet been tested. In any case, Maruti has just made aesthetic changes to the exterior and interior while keeping the powertrain the same. Therefore, it might seem like there is no difference in the performance of the two, but be prepared to be amazed.

New vs Old Maruti Brezza Drag Race
The video has been uploaded by Mr Jangra on YouTube. He takes the old version and his colleagues have the new Brezza. For the first round, they have the AC off. On the count of three, the adrenaline pumps and the drag race commences. The launch for both cars was perfect but the new model started to drift forward ever so slightly and managed to hold on to that lead for the entire duration of the race. For this round, the YouTuber was sitting in the passenger’s seat.

He decides to drive the SUV from the second round onward. Because drag races depend so much on the driver and the YouTuber is experienced, the difference in the races is felt evidently. While the starting of the subsequent rounds was great, it was the older model that was able to beat the newer model quite convincingly. They also performed a rolling race from 20 km/h where the older Brezza beat the newer one again. Finally, they did the last round with the AC on but the result remained the same.

Specs
As mentioned earlier, the specs on both these models are the same. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 103 hp and 137 Nm of peak power and torque. The SUVs in this drag race had 5-speed manual transmissions. Maruti has introduced new features on the new Brezza and changed the aesthetics ever so slightly but the powertrain remains identical. That is why the overall performance of the two was quite comparable. The prices of the latest model range from Rs 8.29 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh, ex-showroom.
