Mahindra XUV 3XO
The Mahindra XUV 3XO might be the new product here, but it continues to carry the powertrain and transmission options from the outgoing model. This includes three engine options – 2 turbo petrol and 1 turbo diesel. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol mill produces a healthy 110 hp and 200 Nm, the 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol is capable of generating the best-in-segment 130 hp and 230 Nm and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel powertrain outputs a decent 115 hp and 300 Nm of peak power and torque. The petrol engines offer the customers a selection between either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AISIN-sourced automatic transmission. On the other hand, you can select either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT AutoShift gearbox with the diesel mill. Hence, the potential buyers get all sorts of engine-transmission combinations to suit their needs.
Maruti Brezza
The Maruti Brezza lags behind the Mahindra XUV 3XO in this regard. There is a sole 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine under its hood which produces a familiar 105 PS and 137 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. In addition, this engine can also be had with the bi-fuel (Petrol + CNG) alternative in which case the mill churns out a decent 88 PS and 121.5 Nm of peak power and torque. One can only get a sole 5-speed manual gearbox with the CNG variant. This trim is for those who are looking for ultra-low running costs. In this case, the XUV 3XO certainly offers more options.

Features Comparison
Mahindra XUV 3XO
Since the XUV 3XO is the newer of the two, it makes sense to start by looking at what it has to offer. Mahindra is clear on its philosophy of offering the best-in-segment amenities in as many areas as possible. That was true for the pre-facelift model as well. By the look of things, that is evidently the case with the new XUV 3XO too. Before we dive into the actual features, we must mention a key improvement. The owners of the XUV300 understandably kept complaining about the small boot. The Indian auto giant has remedied that by offering a decent 364-litre boot this time around. Our View
Now, there are distinct reasons to opt for either of these compact SUVs. As mentioned previously, both of these offer specific strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the day, it is all about the customer preference. That is evident from the sales data as well. People have been appreciative of both these vehicles for a long time now. Talking about this comparison, if you are someone who is not on a strict budget and wants all the bells and whistles in addition to ensuring high safety standards and enthusiastic driving, going for the new Mahindra XUV 3XO makes a lot of sense.
You will get all the latest amenities, high safety prowess and the most powerful engine in the segment. However, if you want a more modest vehicle in terms of glitz and glamour and value the convenience of having access to a sales or service centre anywhere in the country, the Maruti Brezza will be the ideal choice between the two. Sure you will have to compromise a bit on the performance and some convenience features, but you will even end up saving some money. In any case, I don’t believe you could go wrong with either of these capable urban compact SUVs.
