Mahindra Thar spy shots have been surfacing internet for quite some time now and the car will feature whole new exterior as well as interior designs. It will also come with a factory fitted hardtop now!
Pictures of next-generation Mahindra Thar have been spied many times and there are reports that the famous SUV might get an automatic gearbox. Recently, we caught the attention of Mahindra Thar sporting a hardtop which is company fitted. A soft-top will also be on the option.
The SUV sits now sits on a new platform with the Gen3 chassis being shared by Mahindra new cars, Scorpio and TUV300. The SUV has grown in size and is wider than before. Moreover, for the easy drivability on the roads, Thar will get a new front suspension set up.
Mahindra Thar will make a debut at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020 and will come with all the safety features like ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, dual airbags and speed warning. Since the SUV will be launched next year, it is expected to suffice with the crash test norms. It will also get a BS-VI compliance engine.

The spy shots reveal that the front fascia of the SUV is changed. 7-slot grille inspired from Jeep is new, it will also get new front bumpers and is expected to feature LED headlights too.
Moving onto the side, it will now sit on larger tyres and the wheel arches have been positioned quite high too which makes the car look imposing. New Thar will be more comfort-oriented along with keeping the tough 4×4 image. A new dashboard design, instrument cluster and also a touchscreen infotainment system are expected to make their way to the interiors.

There have not been further details on the engine specifications but it will likely feature a powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which will churn out 130-bhp with 300Nm of torque. The transmission will remain the same.
