A new Mahindra mini truck was recently spotted testing in South India by one of our dear friends. This is touted to be a new product that will be positioned between Supro and Bolero Pik up. Mahindra is one of the two commercial vehicle giants in India. Its Bolero Pik Up is a popular and successful pickup truck in the country. People in various parts of the country use the Bolero Pik Up for various applications. However, it is designed as a load carrier to transport goods. Let us take a look at the details of this upcoming mini truck from Mahindra.
New Mahindra Mini Truck Spied Testing
The images we have here capture the test mule driving amidst heavy traffic. The body of the mini truck was wrapped in camouflage. Still, one could easily make out that this looks like a model which is slightly bigger than the Supro but smaller than the mighty Bolero Pik Up.
At the front, it gets round headlamps with a mini-truck-type appearance. This means that the bonnet is not extended out like on the Bolero Pik up. Moreover, the cargo bed bears a decent size to accommodate most types of loads. It would also be interesting to see if Mahindra offers this with a diesel or CNG powertrain. CNG is already available with the Supro range. Hence, the buyers could get the option of choosing between multiple powertrains. The biggest talking point for any pickup truck is its load-carrying capacity. The Supro can pull 900 kg of load. Going by this number, the new mini truck could bear a slightly higher load capacity.
Our View
Mahindra is a prominent player in the commercial vehicle segment in India. It manufactures all sorts of machines including pickup trucks and large multi-axle trucks. It has proven its mettle in our market for a long time. Hence, it wants to intensify the competition in the mini truck space. Going by the dimensions of this upcoming Mahindra mini truck, it looks like a new rival to the Tata Intra and Ashok Leyland Bada Dost is on its way. More details will emerge closer to the launch.
