Mahindra, a relative novice in two-wheelers, released a very bold and innovative Centuro in the 110 cc segment- a neighbourhood dominated by Hero and Bajaj – in July 2013. Mahindra Centuro challenged the duopoly of the mentioned giants by giving us a feature rich and efficient product at a very attractive price. This plot had a dream of a start with the Centuro racing to almost 10,000 units being booked in under 20 days. A glaring omission even in this fully loaded Centuro was the very basic “Disc-brake”, the need for disc brakes was always felt and in the Auto-Expo 2014 Mahindra put up on display the Centuro with Disc Brake, to be called O1-D though the exact date of its launch was withheld. And now for the first time the Mahindra Centuro with disc brakes has ben spied being testing.
Price:
The O1-D is expected to be Priced at Rs. 48,000.

The Mahindra Centuro with front disc brake has been featured at a preview for dealers. This will be the top-end variant of the bike and is expected to attract more customers with the features it has to offer.

Features and Specifications:
The Centuro still will be powered by a four-stroke 107cc petrol engine which produces 8.5 BHP and 8.5 Nm of torque, which is on par with its rivals in the segment. The air-cooled engine is mated to a four-speed all down gearbox which powers the rear wheel via a chain drive system. Mahindra claims a 0-60 kmph timing of 8.85 seconds for the Centuro and fuel efficiency of the bike at 85.4 KMPL.
But it’s the features which make this bike distinctive from its peers with:
- A flip-key with 96-bit secure access.
- An engine mobiliser.
- LED parking lamps.
- A distance to empty indicator.
- Find me and Guide me home lights.
The addition of a disc brake will further improve the bike’s value-for-money quotient. But whether or not its enough to plug in the gaps for this commuter in terms of sales figures, we’ll have to wait and watch. With the bike out in the open on test runs, we can expect a launch very soon as no date has been declared by Mahindra themselves.
