Performance from these engines stand at par with the competition. A big change, however, is that the Petrol engine will no longer come with a 4-speed Automatic gearbox. Instead, both the Petrol and the Diesel engines will come with a 5-speed AMT. Thanks to a lower kerb weight, the new Dzire offers higher average mileage than before.

The new look Dzire is wider than the outgoing model (1735 mm vs 1695 mm). This should make the new car considerably more spacious. Also, while the length of the Dzire remains the same, the new model 2017 Swift Dzire benefits from a longer wheelbase. Finally, the new model Dzire is lower than the outgoing model (1515 mm vs 1555 mm). Maruti is yet to reveal the ground clearance but we think there won’t be a significant change.
Maruti Dzire Review – Exterior Design Review
Unlike its predecessors, the new generation Maruti Dzire doesn’t look much like the corresponding generation of the Swift. While the two cars still share in plenty, the new Dzire manages to still have its own distinct identity. Up front, you get a nose that doesn’t look much like that of the new generation Swift. It gets a different bumper and grille. There’s enough chrome to make the car look upmarket. Even in the side profile, there’s enough to catch your attention. The silhouette is all-new and even the A-pillars are different. The rear is also completely new. The boot continues to look rather stubby, but the new LED taillamps look very upmarket. The headlamps, on the other hand, come with LED projectors and DRLs.
We do love the way the design has evolved True, there’s nothing ground-breaking with the way the new Dzire looks, but we are happy there’s little similarity with the new look Swift.
Maruti Dzire Interior Review
Even on the inside, the new Dzire doesn’t look much like the new Swift. Compared to the new Swift, the new Dzire’s dashboard is a lot different. While the Swift’s cabin gets an all-black treatment, this car’s interior gets a beige-black theme. Also, compared to the round aircon vents on the new Swift, the new Dzire’s cabin gets trapezoidal AC vents. Our favourite bit is the flat-bottom steering wheel, which infuses a touch of sportiness with the cabin.
Thanks to a longer wheelbase and wider track, the new Dzire’s interior is a lot more spacious now. This will be helpful while having 5 occupants over long journeys. Also, the new look Dzire’s interior gets many more features. The highlight here is the touchscreen AVN unit that supports Android Auto, Apple Car Play and Mirror Link.
Maruti Dzire Engine and Transmission
The new model 2017 Maruti Dzire gets its engines from the outgoing model. This means the new car comes with a 1.2 L and 1.3 L Diesel engines. Performance figures remain the same but in all likelihood, the new engines will offer a higher mileage. A big change comes from the fact that the petrol engine no longer gets the 4-speed Automatic Gearbox. Instead, both the Petrol and the Diesel engines get the option of a 5-speed AMT.
This should translate into a competitive price for the Automatic models. Thanks to the introduction of the AMT, the price difference between the manual and the automatic models of the new look Dzire won’t be much. Also, another advantage of AMTs is that the fuel mileage doesn’t take a hit.
