The upcoming 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift has secured a strong 5-star safety rating in the recently conducted ASEAN NCAP crash tests.
Toyota Fortuner recently received a facelift for the Thailand market, which is also bound for India. We are expecting the facelift to be launched towards the end of this year or early 2021. In the recently conducted ASEAN NCAP crash tests, Fortuner’s pickup sibling, Toyota Hilux scored a 5-star safety crash rating.
As both the cars are built on the same platform and use the same components, the ASEAN NCAP authority has also awarded the Toyota Fortuner Facelift with the same 5-star safety rating. Fortuner received 32.93 points out of 36 in Adult Occupant Protection, 43.38 points 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The total safety rating score of Fortuner/Hilux is 83.42 points out of 100.

Safety features on board include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP, Hill Start Assist And Descent Assist, Brake Assist and much more. We are expecting the same features to be available onboard the Indian version of Fortuner Facelift. Although, even now it comes with almost all the features mentioned above.
Fortuner gets a 2.8 Litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 175 BHP and 460 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. However, the facelift will get a power bump that will help it produce 200 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. It also gets a 2.7 Litre petrol engine that produces 166 PS and 245 Nm.
Other features onboard will include a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, refreshed interiors, LED headlamps, 4WD with electronic differential locking, drive modes, new instrument cluster, revised alloy wheel design and much more. Prices currently start off at Rs 28.66 Lakhs up to Rs 36 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Recently, the new TRD Sportivo variant was launched.
