New Hyundai Verna 2017 Launched in China; India Launch in 2017

The 2017 Hyundai Verna made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show held in May 2016. Its highlights include Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The new Hyundai Verna was recently launched in China at a starting price of Chinese equivalent of Rs. 7.20 lakh. The current generation Verna sold in India has been around for 5 years now and although it received a major update last year, it has lost out to newer competition in terms of sales. The new 2017 Hyundai Verna India launch could take place some time in mid-2017. According to our estimates, the 2017 Hyundai Verna price will start at Rs. 8.5 lakh going all the way up to Rs. 12 lakh. New Hyundai Verna 2017 India Launch Date

The production-ready model is expected to be unveiled officially in the coming months. If that is the case, the New Hyundai Verna 2017 India launch could take place by Mid-2017. Until then, the current Verna will continue to battle it out with the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Fiat Linea.

New Hyundai Verna 2017 Price in India

As is the case with almost all new generation vehicles, a price hike is inevitable. However, Hyundai will definitely keep prices competitive. Expect the 2017 Hyundai Verna to cost anywhere between INR 8.5 lacs and INR 12 lacs. The current model is priced in the INR 7.86 lacs INR 13.07 lacs range , ex-showroom, New Delhi.

New Hyundai Verna 2017 India – Specifications

Hyundai currently sells the Verna with a 1.4-litre Petrol, 1.6-litre Petrol, 1.4-litre Diesel and 1.6-litre Diesel engine options. Both, the 1.6 Petrol and Diesel, get the option of either a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. For the 2017 model, Hyundai is likely utilise the same engine line-up without any major changes in specifications.

However, Hyundai recently showcased new turbocharged petrol units at the Auto Expo and the 1.4-litre turbo petrol could find its way into the new Verna. This new petrol engine is expected to be at par with the current 1.6 unit in terms of power, but will boast of a higher torque output and return better fuel mileage.

If the current lineup of engines carried over, then the mileage figures should not see much change hovering around the 23 kpl mark for the diesel and 18 kpl for the petrol. In case Hyundai introduces new engine such as the aforementioned 1.4-litre turbo petrol, the mileage figures could go up. 2017 Hyundai Verna Diesel mileage should be around 23-25 kpl, while the 2017 Hyundai Verna Petrol Mileage could be around 18-20 kpl.

New Hyundai Verna 2017 Exterior Design

The 2017 model builds on the current Verna’s design featuring a similar coupe-like silhouette. The face of the New Hyundai Verna 2017 features Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille with a healthy dosage of chrome, flanked by a sleek pair of headlights. Higher-spec trims will get LED DRLs while the lower trims will get halogen lamps. The front and the rear bumpers are more angular than before and feature sharper creases. The side profile bears are very strong resemblance to the current model thanks to similar door mirrors and glass area. At the back, the new Verna appears to have a shortened, notchback-like boot complete with LED tail lamps reminiscent of the upcoming 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

The images here not shed any light on the interiors of the next generation Verna, but it would be safe to assume that the cabin will be all new. In terms of design, it could borrow elements from the 2016 Hyundai Elantra or the Tucson or event the Creta. The cabin of the current model is often criticised for being cramped, especially the rear. Hyundai might want to address this issue with the advent of the next generation model.

New Hyundai Verna 2017 Engine & Transmission

The engine lineup of the current Verna is likely to find its way into the new 2017 Hyundai Verna. Which means it will be powered by 1.4 L petrol and diesel motors and 1.6 L petrol and diesel motors. The 1.6 L engines will come mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. While the 1.4 L engines will make do with a 5-speed manual. However, Hyundai could introduce a new 1.4 L Turbocharged petrol engine mated to an automatic dual clutch transmission.
