Hyundai Motor India Ltd., the country’s second-largest selling car manufacturer, and largest exporter has finally come up with a 4WD variant for the Tucson mid-size crossover-SUV. The four-wheel drive variant is available with a Diesel engine only. The new Tucson was launched last year in both petrol and Diesel engine variants. It offers both manual and automatic transmissions. However, it’s only now that a four-wheel drive model has been added to the range. The new Hyundai Tucson 4WD has an ex-showroom price of Rs 25,19,000. It comes in the top-end GLS trim.

The latest iteration of the Tucson finds itself slotted above the Creta small SUV in the Korean company’s product portfolio. This crossover is a direct rival to not only the Honda CR-V but also to the Jeep Compass. With the launch of the 4WD variant, the Korean crossover will find itself better equipped to handle the fast increasing heat from the cheapest Jeep SUV in India. The Tucson is a fairly well-sorted mid-size crossover-SUV that offers a punchy set of motors, distinct Korean design, comfortable cabin and decent ride and handling characteristics. The advent of the 4WD model should make it an even better package.

New Hyundai Tucson 4WD Engine and Transmission
For India, the new Tucson 4WD Crossover-SUV comes with a 2.0 L Diesel engine only. Also, there’s only one transmission- 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel engine outputs 185 PS and 400 Nm. This is engine is a sufficiently punchy and refined unit that offers a good mix of performance and fuel mileage. The abundance of torque and well-spaced gear ratios should help the Tucson 4WD venture off-road easily. Of course, the new 4WD system will play an important role with helping the Korean crossover trod off the road.
