Generally, people are confused between the mid- and top-spec variants when buying a new car
In this post, I am comparing the new Honda Amaze VX and ZX trims in manual avatars on the basis of interior, exterior, features and price. Honda recently launched the 3rd-generation Amaze to rival the mighty 4th-generation Maruti Dzire in our market. After the arrival of compact SUVs, the sedan segment has taken a hit. Still, it is vehicles like the Dzire, Amaze, Aura and Tigor which are still growing this space. For now, let us discuss which model is more value for money.
New Honda Amaze VX vs ZX – Price
The VX variant bears a price tag of Rs 9.10 lakh, while the ZX retails for Rs 9.70 lakh, ex-showroom. Note that these are the prices of the manual versions. Hence, there is a significant gap of Rs 60,000 between the two.
Price | Honda Amaze VX | Honda Amaze ZX |
Ex-Showroom | Rs 9.10 lakh | Rs 9.70 lakh |
New Honda Amaze VX vs ZX – Design
This video stems from MOHIT VIHEM on YouTube. He has the two cars side by side for a thorough comparison. At the front, both of these get LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, LED fog lamps and a huge grille section with a chrome slab at the top. Note that the lower half of the ZX version gets added chrome inserts on the grille and fog lamp housing but the host claims that this is a part of added accessories. On the sides, the VX gets 15-inch alloy wheels, while the ZX gets 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, both cars get a shark fin antenna and City-inspired LED taillamps. Again, the ZX variant possesses an extra chrome belt between the taillamps as a part of the accessories. The only difference is the addition of a front camera in the ZX model for the segment-first ADAS.
New Honda Amaze VX vs ZX – Interior and Specs
On the inside, the VX trim boasts all the necessary amenities to pamper customers. This includes things like an 8-inch infotainment display, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, part-digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls, fabric seats, automatic AC, textured dashboard, USB charging, start/stop button, etc. The only addition in the ZX version is ADAS, blind spot monitoring, rear AC vents and soft-touch materials on the door panels. Both models use the same E20-compatible 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which is good for 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission. Honda claims a mileage of 18.65 km/l with the manual gearbox.
Specs | Honda Amaze |
Engine | 1.2L 4-cyl Petrol E20 |
Power | 90 PS |
Torque | 110 Nm |
Transmission | 5MT / CVT |
Mileage | 18.65 km/l (MT) / 19.46 km/l (CVT) |
Boot Space | 416 litres |
Ground Clearance | 172 mm |
My View
In this comparison, it becomes clear that the major differences for Rs 60,000 between these two cars are ADAS, alloy wheels, rear AC vents, and soft-touch materials on the door panels. Therefore, if you want the ADAS active safety suite and a slightly better exterior design, you can go for the ZX trim. Otherwise, the VX model gets all the functionalities that you would need.
