The compact sedan segment in India heating up with the new Dzire launching and the Amaze to follow
The new Honda Amaze has been revealed via the official design sketches just as we embrace the launch of the new Maruti Dzire. Note that the 3rd-generation iteration of the Amaze will rival the 4th-generation model of the Maruti Dzire. The latter has been a segment leader for close to 17 years now. In fact, its popularity has only gone up with time. Having said that, it has faced stiff competition from worthy rivals like the Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura. For now, let us glance at the details of the design sketches of the new Amaze.
New Honda Amaze Revealed via Design Sketches
We know that official design sketches are the closest information we can get about the appearance of a car prior to the final debut in the flesh. Hence, these reveal a lot of aspects. I really like the approach the Honda designers have taken with the new Amaze. At the front, we see sleek headlamps with LED DRLs working as the eyebrows inside the headlight cluster. There is a broad grille section between the lights with a distinct pattern. Down below, I really appreciate the sporty bumper with a stylish section on either end, perhaps to house the fog lamps. On the sides, the alloy wheels look elegant and a sharp crease runs the length of the side door panels.
Moving to the rear, there is a shark fin antenna, modern LED taillamps connected via a thin strip, an attractive bootlid and a contoured bumper with reflector lights on the edges. There is even a sketch of the interior layout. The first thing one notices is the minimalist appearance with a seamless panel on the dashboard which houses the AC vents and bears design elements. There is a free-standing touchscreen infotainment display with physical buttons for AC controls down below. I really like the chunky steering wheel with multimedia controls. The combination of beige and black infuses a feeling of a premium vehicle. We have to wait to see how close the production version looks.
Specs
In terms of the specifications, we are likely to witness the same engine and transmission combinations as the existing model. This means a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which belts out a healthy 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties will also be the same 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. This will ensure that buyers will get the option of choosing between different gearbox options. We shall keep an eye out for more details in this case as the launch nears. In any case, the compact sedan space is heating up.
