In this post, we take a look at the details of a drag race between the new Hero Xtreme 250R and Bajaj Pulsar RS200. The former is the latest motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp in India. It is aimed at riding enthusiasts who want performance, adventure and affordability. On the other hand, Pulsar has been a household name in the Indian two-wheeler market for a long time. To leverage the power of the Pulsar moniker, Bajaj sells it in all sorts of segments and engine capacities. For now, let us compare the raw performance of these two motorcycles.
New Hero Xtreme 250R vs Bajaj Pulsar RS200 Drag Race
This video stems from Ayush Verma on YouTube. The host has the two motorcycles with him on an empty stretch of road somewhere in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The team decides to perform an acceleration test of these two bikes. On the count of three, the two riders accelerate hard. Since the beginning, the Xtreme remained ahead and the Pulsar was not able to come anywhere close. For the second round, they swapped the riders to ensure a consistent performance. However, the result remained exactly the same. The Xtreme simply smoked the Pulsar.
The Hero Xtreme 250R comes with a 249-cc 4-stroke single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine which generates a healthy 30 PS and 25 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. This mill pairs with a 6-speed transmission with wet and assist & slip clutch. The bike weighs 168 kg and boasts disc brakes on both wheels. The fuel tank capacity is a decent 11.5-litre, the ground clearance is 167 mm and the wheelbase is 1,357 mm. It bears a price tag of Rs 1.80 lakh, ex-showroom.
On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 comes with a 199.5-cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine which produces a healthy 24.5 PS @9,750 RPM and 18.7 Nm @8,000 RPM of peak power and torque, respectively. This mill uses a 6-speed transmission. The front wheel has a 300 mm disc, while the rear has a 230 mm disc. Also, the bike weighs 167 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 13 litres. With a wheelbase of 1,345 mm, the ground clearance is 157 mm. To get your hands on this motorcycle, you will need to shell out Rs 1.84 lakh, ex-showroom.
