Maruti Suzuki is adopting the product offensive strategy for 2022. Having already launched the Baleno, the company plans to launch a slew of new models including the new-gen Maruti S-Cross
The largest carmaker in the country is planning the launch of the new-gen Maruti S-Cross, details of which have been revealed by various dealers in a video that was recently published. The crossover SUV is not a very popular product but the facelifted version might bring some fresh appeal to it. The market is dominated by the SUVs from every segment which makes it a bit harder for products like the S-Cross to grab a large market share. Nevertheless, it is a unique proposition for a few buyers who don’t want an outright SUV. Let us discuss what we could expect from the S-Cross.

New-Gen Maruti S-Cross Launch Details
In a video uploaded on YouTube, the vlogger is seen inquiring about the prospect of the launch of S-Cross. There has not been any official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki about the crossover which is why people were not sure if they should wait for it or buy some other product. However, in this video, the YouTuber decided to call up a few dealerships to make an inquiry about the S-Cross. The first showroom that he called denied having any information regarding the crossover. But the other two dealerships told him that the launch might be somewhere around August and the bookings might commence from May 2022 onwards. This hints at the potential launch in the latter half of the year.
Specs
There is no reason to believe that Maruti Suzuki would introduce any new powertrain option with the S-Cross. This means that it might feature the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that the Brezza and Ciaz come powered with. This engine develops a healthy 105 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. This is also the similar engine-gearbox combination that is seen on the Brezza.

In terms of design and features, it would see fresh updates to the exterior like on the international model. The rear section might be especially different from the current model. On the inside, the S-Cross would come with all the modern amenities and features as we have seen on the new Baleno. Hence, it could make for an interesting alternative to the people wanting away from the SUVs.
