The upcoming new-gen Maruti Dzire and Swift have been spotted performing tests in cold weather. The latest Swift stole the spotlight at the recent Japanese Mobility Show, showcasing significant upgrades in its exterior, interior, and mechanical components. It’s yet unclear if these enhancements will make their way to the Indian variant. Undoubtedly, the standout feature is the hybrid powertrain, promising an impressive mileage of around 30-35 km/l. However, there’s no confirmed report on whether the Indian version will embrace this same powertrain. On the other hand, the Dzire is the sedan iteration of the Swift and will most likely borrow the powertrain from the Swift. Both are being tested rigorously by the largest carmaker in the country.

New-Gen Maruti Dzire and Swift Cold Weather Tests
It is common for carmakers to test the vehicles in different weather conditions prior to the official launch. That is exactly what Maruti Suzuki is currently doing with the Dzire and Swift. This post comes from car_universe_yt on Instagram. It captures both these cars in some Himalayan region with heavy snow on the side of the road. The temperatures are most likely below 0 degrees. Firstly, the Dzire is under heavy camouflage. Still, we are able to deduce a few things. These include an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, a new set of alloy wheels, a new grille, etc. However, the overall silhouette is almost similar to the existing model.

Similarly, the Swift has been captured in the latter part of the video. Again, there is a thick camouflage to prevent the final exterior design from being revealed. But the silhouette is unmistakably Swift. It looks like this is a lower model as it gets steel wheels instead of alloy wheels. In any case, the fact that Maruti is testing these two cars in extremely cold weather conditions is an unequivocal indication that the company is in the final phase of the testing and we might see the launch soon.

Specs
Both these will most likely share the engine and transmission options. Suzuki unveiled the Z12E 1.2-litre petrol engine tailored for the Swift in Japan. This engine delivers 82 hp and 108 Nm of torque, slightly less than the current model’s output of 88 hp and 113 Nm. Speculation were there regarding the possibility of a strong hybrid engine for the local market. However, uncertainties arise due to pricing considerations, casting doubt on its arrival in our region. Consequently, the likelihood of the standard Z Series engine being utilized in the Swift destined for India is considerable. This new Z-Series engine could come with a mild-hybrid technology.
