After successfully launching the new-gen Maruti Celerio recently, the carmaker might be prepepping the crossover version for an imminent debut
The SUV-inspired crossover version of the earlier Maruti Celerio was called Celerio X in the previous generation and the launch of the latest-gen model might be on the cards soon. Celerio prides itself on being the most fuel-efficient car in the market. The price-conscious car buyers are flocking to this enticing prospective vehemently. For the people who want to buy the Celerio but want something a bit more rugged, the Celerio X might fit the bill. Recently, Maruti Suzuki has asked media to block April 21-24 for an ‘Xperience’ that’s ‘Xtraordinary and ‘Xmplified.’ While no more details are available at the moment, our guess is that it could be the new-gen Maruti Celerio X which is previewed in a digital illustration below.

New-Gen Maruti Celerio X Launch
The new-gen Celerio X will be based on the regular Celerio but will have a reworked styling package. It’s not too hard to guess the differences it would carry – safely expect the cross-hatch to feature multiple sporty black cladding on the front bumper and side profile. Additionally, the wheel arches and the rims will be finished in black to suit the crossover characteristics. There will be auxiliary roof rails and black treatment around the windows. The fog lamp housing will be turned black, too, and a black skid plate is added to give the vehicle that muscular look. Finally, we expect to see a tinge of black highlight around the main headlamp cluster. The ground clearance might also be increased slightly to enable it to glide over uneven surfaces.
Specs
Under the hood, powering the new-gen Maruti Celerio will be the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that powers the regular model. The K10C unit makes 67 hp-90 Nm and replaces the earlier K-series unit that powered the first-gen model. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and AGS (AMT). In the latter, the Celerio brags 26.68 km/l mileage. In addition to this, it also comes with a CNG option where it develops 56 hp and 82 Nm of peak power and torque. However, the Celerio X might not be offered with the CNG powertrain.

The prices of the regular Maruti Celerio range between Rs 5.15 lakh and Rs 6.94 lakh, ex-showroom. The cost of Celerio X might well hover around a similar range. The rivals to the Celerio include the likes of Hyundai Santro and Renault Kwid along with its kin in the form of Maruti WagonR.
