The next-gen Maruti Celerio has been spied undisguised and compared with the WagonR. The video has been uploaded by a WagonR owner who was planning to buy the next-gen Celerio. However, since he required the vehicle urgently and couldn’t wait for the launch of Celerio, he opted for the WagonR instead. However, now he has received some spied images of the new Celerio which is set to make its debut in our market soon. Here are his opinions of the spied version of the Celerio as he compares the two cars.

Spied Undisguised Maruti Celerio Compared With WagonR
The YouTuber has a detailed video where he covers almost every aspect of these two vehicles. The exterior of the upcoming Celerio is significantly different from the outgoing model. Whereas the current model is more rectangular in all aspects including body design and headlamps, the next-gen is more rounded from every corner. This extends to the headlamps and taillamps too. The front features a small grille with a Swift-like chrome bar running through it. The headlamps are swept back but are too small to make a strong impression. The side profile is quite bland with no significant characteristic creases to show. The door handles are also traditional although there might be the option of pull-back handles on top trim later on. A request sensor is visible near the driver-side door handle which means that the car will have a smart key or keyless entry function.

On the interiors, there will be quite substantial changes. The YouTuber explains that the door panels are quite thin and therefore, the power window switches are shifted beneath the centre console. The next-gen Celerio also features a push-button start/stop function to aid fuel economy. The instrument cluster will be borrowed from the top variant of the WagonR. The air-con vents are likely to follow the same approach. The boot might be around 270-litres but the rear seat comfort might not be as great as on the WagonR.

Specs
The YouTuber claims that the Celerio will only come with a 1.0-litre petrol engine making 67 hp and 90 Nm of peak power and torque. There will be the option of combining it with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT unit. The larger 1.2-litre engine might be featured on top trim but no confirmation is there yet. For the prices and more information, stay tuned for the launch of the hatchback soon.
