Here is the list of all the new cars at Auto Expo 2023 which will come as new launches and unveils. The biennial event is taking place in Greater Noida. Such events give a glimpse of what the market could look like in the coming months. While a lot of carmakers pulled out of this iteration of the Expo, there are still lots of carmakers that have participated showcasing their future products and technologies. Here are all the new cars that we will see in India in the coming months.

New Cars at the Auto Expo 2023
Maruti Jimny 5-Door
Maruti Jimny has been in the news for a long time now and the 5-door version is finally on display. It comes with a 4×4 configuration and is among the most affordable 4×4 off-roader in the country challenging the SUVs like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in 5-door versions. It comes powered by a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 103 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed MT or an AT gearbox.

Maruti Flash (YTB)
Maruti is going for a product-offensive strategy in the coming years and will show come with two hot new cars at Auto Expo 2023. It has already unveiled the Flash (crossover based on the Baleno premium hatchback) that sits above the Baleno and below the Brezza. It comes powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that develops a healthy 100 hp and 150 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. There could also be a 1.5-litre hybrid engine like the Grand Vitara.

MG Air EV
MG Air EV is slated to become the most affordable EV in the country when MG decides to launch it. It is a 3-door urban EV that is under 3 m in length. The wheelbase is around 2 m. The MG Air EV will most likely come with two battery-pack options just like in the international markets – a 17.3 kWh and a 26.7 kWh. The larger battery will enable a range of up to 300 km, while the smaller battery would take the EV up to 200 km. The peak power output stands at a decent 41 PS.

MG Hector Facelift
Having already been revealed a week ago, the MG Hector facelift has been launched in the Indian market. The biggest talking point in the Hector facelift is the industry-first 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apart from that, there are slight aesthetic changes while the powertrain options remain the same. These include a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre oil-burner and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. The latter is available with DCT and CVT options but the diesel motor is available only with a 6-speed manual unit. The petrol mill offers 143 PS and 250 Nm, while the diesel engine produces 170 hp and 350 Nm. This could be among the more important new cars at Auto Expo 2023 from the market share point of view.

Mahindra XUV400
Mahindra is beginning its journey in the electric world with the XUV400 EV. While it has tried its hands in the EV space almost a decade ago as well, this will be its official entry into the mass market. The XUV400 is the all-electric version of the XUV300. It comes with a 39.4 kWh IP67-rated LFP battery powering the electric motor that will produce a healthy 150 hp and 310 Nm of peak power and torque. These figures will allow a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of around 8.3 seconds which is very impressive. The top speed is limited to around 150 km/h. More importantly, the range of the XUV400 is rated at 456 km in ideal conditions. Using the 50 kW DC fast charger, the 0-80% comes up in just 50 mins, while the standard 3.3 kW/16 A domestic socket will fill up the juice from 0-100% in 13 hours.

Tata Punch EV
Tata is in the process of strengthening its leadership position in the Indian EV market by introducing the electric version of the Punch micro-SUV. The Punch EV will be based on the same ALFA platform as the ICE sibling. Like the Tiago EV, the electric Punch will use Ziptron technology. In all likelihood, the Punch EV will be on sale with two different battery pack options – a medium range and higher range. The electric Punch will be one of the most important new cars at Auto Expo 2023 from Tata Motors.

Hyundai Creta Facelift
The most popular SUV in our market in recent times is the Creta and the facelift version is showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. There are tons of aesthetic changes to the exterior of the mid-size SUV in accordance with the latest design language in the international markets. This includes a new front grille, stylish new alloys and slightly tweaked taillamps. The powertrain options remain the same. This means that it will still come with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that produces 115 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque, a diesel engine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that also produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque and an exciting 1.4-litre turbo-petrol T-GDI engine that produces 143 PS and 242 Nm and comes with a 7-speed DCT. The 6-speed manual CVT automatic transmission options are available as well.

Kia Seltos Facelift
The Kia Seltos mid-size SUV has already witnessed a facelift in the international markets. Being so popular in India, we have finally got it too. The updates to the exterior are rather subtle but there will be a few additions in terms of features. The powertrain options remain identical. This includes 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor. The 1.5-litre motors output 115 PS each, while the turbo-petrol engine belts out 140 PS. Also, all the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. However, the base petrol engine is optionally available with a CVT, while the diesel and turbo-petrol motors are on offer with a 6-speed torque-converter and 7-speed DCT option, respectively.

Hyundai IONIQ 5
The globally-acclaimed electric crossover is finally making it to India. it might get a 77.4 kWh Lithium-ion battery that comes in RWD and AWD versions. In the RWD configuration, the EV develops 229 PS and 350 Nm, while in the AWD trim, it churns out 325 PS and 605 Nm of peak power and torque. The 350 kW DC fast charging allows 10-80% charging in just 18 mins. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 secs. The claimed WLTP range is an impressive 528 km. It is based on Hyundai Group’s E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) on which the existing Kia EV6 is also built. Among the most important new cars at Auto Expo 2023, the Ioniq 5 will become the most expensive model in Hyundai Motor India Ltd’s lineup.

Hyundai Ai3 Micro SUV
Hyundai is also bringing a Tata Punch rival to the market to be called the Ai3. It is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios. The design is very modern and on the SUV-ish side with a split-LED setup, headlamps on the bumper, and upright stance vaguely inspired by the Casper micro SUV sold in the international market. The powertrain options would be similar to the Grand i10 Nios too including a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine developing 83 hp and 113 Nm of peak power and torque.

New Kia Carnival
Finally, the last model in our list of new cars at Auto Expo 2023 is the new generation Kia Carnival. The premium MPV in an all-new guise looks distinct and more modern than the existing model. However, the powertrain option will remain the same. It will come with a 2.2-litre VGT diesel engine that produces a decent 197 hp and 440 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to a sole 8-speed AT gearbox.
