Bajaj Platina was last updated in early 2021, when it got a slew of new features to attract more buyers in the budget motorcycle segment
Bajaj Auto has so far been unable to outsell the Hero Splendor with its range of entry-level motorcycles but it has surely been the largest exporter of motorcycles due to the popularity of its affordable and feature-laden budget products. The Platina is one of the motorcycles that has received a wide acceptance in both domestic and export market with more than 70 lakh customers in India alone. Thanks to the high popularity, the motorcycle manufacturer has ensured that the Platina stays relevant in the market with new features and revised styling. Now, though, the need of the hour probably is to bring a new generation model which could have a retroesque look like the one we see below.

Compared to the actual motorcycle, the new Bajaj Platina you see above looks a lot different but without being outlandish or a radical departure from the current model. Sure, its huge disc brake rotor up front and the wide rear tyre doesn’t look suitable for an entry-level offering but the rest of the concept can easily pushed to production by the company. The tank and the side panel and even the end-can look similar to what the actual motorcycle offers but the round headlamp and the clean tail gives the bike a Scrambler-like look. It doesn’t look too fancy like, say, the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar N250 but it is definitely a lot bolder than the current version that’s been on sale for many years now.

Being merely an illustration from abin_designs_511 on Instagram, we don’t have any engine details of the new generation model. For reference, the current motorcycle has a 102 cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine with SOHC head. The motorcycle comes Spring-in-Spring (SnS) rear shock absorbers that will likely be carried over to the next-gen model while it doesn’t look like the alloys on the current bike would be replaced by spoke wheels. The drum brakes on the current motorcycle could make way for a disc-drum setup but, again, the rotor won’t be as large as the one you see in the rendering we have here.

Even though the Bajaj Platina is among the most affordable motorcycles in the country but it does come with a handful of features. The highlights here include a long seat with an extra layer of cushion, tubeless tyres, LED DRLs, wide footsteps and alloy wheels. The motorcycle is available only in two colour schemes- Cocktail Wine Red and Ebony Black with silver decals. It offers a fuel tank of 11-litre and the motorcycle can offer a real-world mileage of above 70 kmpl when ridden gently. It rivals Hero Splendor and Honda CB-Shine.
