Ford has launched a new petrol automatic variant of the Ecosport based on the Titanium trim for a price of Rs 10,67 lakh. Its Rs 90,000 cheaper than the top-spec Titanium+ automatic variant of the Ecosport.
Ford has launched a new entry-level petrol-automatic variant for the Ecosport in India. Until now, Ford offered an automatic gearbox option only on the top-spec Titanium Pus trim of the Ecosport. This new and cheaper automatic variant of the Ford Ecosport is based on the Titanium trim which sits below the Titanium+ trim and it has been launched for a price of Rs 10.67 lakh, ex-showroom. Let’s take a detailed look at what it has to offer.
The automatic variant of the Ecosport in this new Titanium trim is now Rs 90,000 cheaper than the top-spec Titanium+ automatic variant. Obviously being the second-in-line trim, it loses out on some features which is why it is also cheaper. This variant misses out on a sunroof and only comes with dual airbags. In comparison, the Titanium+ trim gets a sunroof as standard and comes fitted with six airbags too.
Apart from this, the automatic Titanium variant also misses out on other features such as auto headlights and wipers, a rear seat center armrest and front map lights. The automatic Titanium trim is however by no means stripped out and it comes pretty well loaded still with features like an 9.0-inch infotainment system, cruise control, paddleshifters, traction control and ESP to name just a few. In fact, it’s not much of a compromise at all for being about a lakh cheaper if you do not really fancy a sunroof. The other features too can be easily done without but the loss of four airbags could concern you a little.

Apart from changes in the features list, the Ford Ecosport petrol automatic remains unchanged mechanically. It continues to be powered by a 1.5L, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 123hp and 150Nm of torque. The automatic gearbox is a 6-speed torque converter unit and is the only car in the segment to come with paddle shifters. The other engine on offer is a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 100hp and 205Nm of torque. However it only comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Ford has also updated the infotainment system in this Titanium automatic variant to come with Ford’s recently introduced connected car tech. It called the FordPass and it comes with features such as vehicle start or stop,, vehicle locator, remote lock or unlock and a few other vehicle-related updates. The Ford Ecosport automatic Titanium competes with other automatic sub-compact SUVs in the segment which includes the Tata Nexon AMT, Hyundai Venue DCT and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza mild-hybrid AT. The Ecosport is now much more competitive in terms of pricing with other sub-compact automatic SUVs.
