New 2025 KTM 390 Adventure vs Old Model – Specs
The new 2025 KTM 390 Adventure comes with a familiar LC4C 399cc engine which is capable of producing a healthy 46 PS of power and 39 Nm of torque. There is a quick-shifter technology which allows clutchless gear changes for seamless acceleration and operation. Moreover, the ride-by-wire throttle also contributes to the smooth operation. There are 3 ride modes on offer along with cruise control for the ease of riding on long journeys, especially on the highways. The all-new Adventure Platform majorly uses new components. The key attraction of KTM bikes is their adjustable WP Apex suspension. You will find a 43 mm inverted fork at the front. The longer travel suspension setup is ideal for uneven surfaces.
It gets 30 clicks at the front and 20 clicks at the rear for wide adjustability. Since this is the Adventure version primarily designed for off-roading scenarios, the ground clearance stands at a cool 237 mm. That is enough to glide over most obstacles even on treacherous terrains. The front gets 17 inches, while the rear uses a 21-inch tubeless spoke wheel. Performing the braking duties is a cornering ABS and off-road ABS. This will ensure that safety is taken care of regardless of the surface you are riding on. Also, the seat height is 830 mm which is designed to adapt to riders of all sizes. The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure comes with grippy footsteps with removable rubber inserts, adjustable levers and an aerodynamically tuned windshield. Also, the lightweight Trellis Frame maximizes stability and the 14.5-litre fuel tank means more miles with fewer stops. It weighs 182 kg.
On the other hand, even the 2024 model had the same engine. It made similar power and torque and had a 6-speed manual transmission. The bore and stroke are 89 mm and 64 mm respectively. Also, the steel Trellis frame with a die-cast aluminium sub-frame with a new curved cast swingarm was first introduced in this model. Apart from that, the other prominent mechanical components include a 43 mm WP Apex front fork suspension with compression and rebound adjustability with 150 mm travel.
The tail section contains a monoshock suspension with a 5-step rebound and preload adjustability with 150 mm travel. The front tyre comes equipped with a 320 mm disc, while the rear tyre has a 240 mm disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. It weighs 165 km and the seat height is 820 mm. Clearly, there are only minor differences in this regard between the 2024 and 2025 models.

This is one area where modern motorcycles keep offering the latest tech and convenience amenities to make the lives of the riders easier. The main highlights of the new model include Cornering Traction Control, Motorcycle Traction Control, high-intensity LED projector headlamp, 5-inch full-colour TFT display, KTM connect, turn-by-turn navigation, music control, and much more. On the other hand, the 2024 version features a 5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity for multimedia controls and calls, an all-new Launch Control building revs to 7,000 RPM for a powerful launch, 3 riding modes (Rain, Street and Track), cornering ABS, Supermoto ABS, USB-C charging port, LED headlight with integrated split DRLs, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation.
My View
The two motorcycles are closely matched which makes choosing between the two quite challenging. If you want the latest iteration of the KTM 390 Adventure and are happy to spend a premium for a few new amenities, the 2025 iteration makes sense. However, if budget is your priority, you will get to experience almost all the things in the 2024 version too.
