The new spy shots reveal the 2020 Mahindra Thar in its near-production ready form. Also, in this spy shot, it looks very similar to the OG Jeep Wrangler.
India’s most popular off-roader is set to get a major makeover. The beloved Mahindra Thar will get a new generation update with a new platform, refreshed styling and more features in 2020. It will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and might be launched there as well.
The Thar has been spied testing a lot of times, but in the latest spy shots, it seems to be fully loaded and in a near-production ready form. The spy shot reveals a lot of details about its styling and exterior components.
One look at the new 2020 Mahindra Thar and you are reminded of the original Jeep Wrangler. There are huge similarities between both of them, especially with the shape. The new Thar looks bigger, bulkier and more off-road oriented.

In the spy shots, you can see the Thar with new alloy wheels design and the spare tyre attached on the back. Looks like it gets new LED tail lamps and new bumper design as well. On the front, you get new headlamps and a revised front grille fascia.
Inside the cabin, the new Thar is going to get a refreshed dashboard design, front bucket seats and seat belts for all the passengers. It is likely to get a new steering wheel with mounted audio controls, touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Rear Parking camera as well.
Under the hood, the new Thar will get a 2.0 Litre turbo-diesel engine that will produce 140 BHP. Reports suggest that it could also get a petrol engine with an automatic gearbox as an option. It will be mated to a low-range gearbox with a four-wheel-drive transfer case.

With all these upgrades, expect the prices of Thar to increase by a huge margin. As of now, the top-spec trim costs Rs 9.99 Lakhs, which will easily go up to Rs 12 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
