The upcoming 2018 Maruti Swift will carry over the same engines from the current generation albeit certain tuning alterations to produce more power. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 83 bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre diesel engine is expected to feature a bump in power producing 80 bhp and 210 Nm of torque. The difference in 2018 Swift would be automatic transmission options for both petrol as well as a diesel engine. Suzuki is meanwhile evaluating other engine options for the 2018 Swift such as the new 1.5-litre diesel engine that is set to replace the Fiat sourced 1.3-litre engine, an SHVS variant and the three-cylinder 1-litre Boosterjet engine from the Baleno RS.
The upcoming 2018 Maruti Swift will share its platform with the Baleno, though in the Swift, it will be 10-15% lighter. The reduction in weight will give the Swift an edge over its competition in terms of performance and economy. The new platform is also 10 percent more rigid than the outgoing model translating to better handling and ergonomics. In addition to these alterations, the 2018 Swift will feature a lower driver’s hip point, a lower centre of gravity and spring as well as damper settings closer to that of the Baleno RS to make the Swift engaging and peppy to drive.
New 2018 Maruti Swift Interior
The upcoming 2018 Maruti Swift will feature an equally sporty yet practical interior. The dashboard layout remains minimalistic with sporty inserts like upmarket steering wheel followed by sporty, two-pod instrument cluster. The top of the line variant will feature equipment such as touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play, Android Auto and mirror link capability. The automatic transmission variants are expected to feature paddle shifters. The new Swift is wider with a longer wheelbase. This translates to more interior space for the passengers as the cabin space has increased by 25 percent. Even the boot space has been upgraded from 200 litres to 254 litres.
