The new 2018 Hyundai Santro will replace the ageing i10. It will find its place in-between the Grand i10 and the new Eon. It will compete with its age-old rival, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
If you are a regular follower of Indian automotive news, you must be well aware of the fact that Hyundai India is all set to bring back the Santro hatchback in our country. The South Korean automaker started its journey in India with this vehicle back in 1997. It enjoyed a huge success till 2014 when it was discontinued and replaced with the Hyundai i10. The new 2018 Hyundai Santro is going to be a completely new vehicle from the ground-up. Furthermore, it will replace the ageing i10. Consequently, it will find its place in-between the Hyundai Eon and the Grand i10 in Hyundai’s line-up.
New 2018 Hyundai Santro India Launch
Seems like Hyundai is currently in the testing phase for the new Santro. We were expecting to see the final, production-ready version of the 2018 Santro at the 2018 Auto Expo. However, that did not turn out to be the case. Going by recent media speculations, it is likely that the new Santro will launch in India sometime during the latter half of this year. New 2018 Hyundai Santro Expected Price
As mentioned before, the 2018 Santro will find its place in-between the Eon and the Grand i10 in Hyundai model line-up. Hence, it is going to retail at a base price of INR 3.5 Lakh. Consequently, the feature loaded, the top-of-the-line variant will probably cost around the mark of INR 5.5 Lakh.

New 2018 Hyundai Santro: A Quick Glance
So far, we do not have any concrete details regarding the 2018 Santro. Still, we can safely assume that next-generation of this compact hatchback will get an attractive exterior design. Judging by the spy shots, the overall silhouette of the new Santro resembles quite a lot to the current gen Grand i10. Therefore, we can assume that these two vehicles are going to share the same platform. That said, the Santro will have a distinct design in line with Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.

Just like the current breed of Hyundai cars, the cabin of the new Santro is also going to get a simple and neat layout. Despite falling in the entry budget hatchback segment, the quality along with the fit and finish will remain quite decent. Since we do not have any confirmation about the engine specifications of the new Santro, we will speculate that it is going to come only with a petrol engine. The 2018 Santro will probably get the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder engine which does its duty on the Hyundai i10. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be available as standard. In addition to that, Hyundai could also provide an automatic variant as well.
With a price ranging in-between INR 3.5 lakh to 5.5 lakh, the new Santro will compete against its age-old rival, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
