It will be the first time that the Civic will launch in India with a Diesel engine option. Earlier, the Civic came only with a 1.8-litre petrol variant, owing to which it couldn’t benefit from the rise in sales of Diesel models and eventually lost out to its Diesel-sipping rivals. The new Civic, however, will launch in India with an oil-burner in the form of an all-new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. This is the same engine that will also power the Diesel versions of the HRV and the new-gen CRV. The engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Chances of this engine variant getting an auto ‘box look slim at the moment.
