It’s a well-known fact that Honda Cars India hasn’t exactly been setting sales charts on fire. However, there is an entire handful of upcoming Honda cars that look promising enough to help the manufacturer have a better sales performance. One of the most important of these upcoming Honda cars in India is the much awaited all-new Civic sedan. The new Civic will try to capitalize on its high brand image and will go on to rival cars like the Hyundai Elantra and the Toyota Corolla Altis. There’s also the new 2018 Honda Amaze, which is likely to launch in early 2019. Before that, however, Honda Cars India is likely to launch the all-new generation of the Brio hatchback. The new 2018 Honda Brio will lock horns with the new generation Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.
The new 2018 model of the Brio will be manufactured at Honda’s Tapukada production facility in Rajasthan. It will boast an all-new design, both inside and out, and will come with many new features. It’s also likely to offer both Petrol and Diesel engines. For the new generation Brio, Honda could use an updated version of the current 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol engine and a reworked 1.5-litre iDTEC motor from the Amaze. For the petrol model, there will be two transmission choices – 5-speed Manual and a CVT. The Diesel model will offer only a 6-speed Manual transmission.

New 2018 Honda Brio Launch Date
Launch Date | October 2018 |
The new Honda Brio 2018 could make its India debut at the much awaited Auto Expo 2018. The new Brio’s launch date, however, is likely to fall only towards the end of next year. We are expecting a late October launch as Honda might want to benefit from the surge in new car sales during the festive period every year.
New 2018 Honda Brio Price in India
Minimum Price | Rs 5 lakh |
Maximum Price | Rs 8 lakh |
The new 2018 Honda Brio will be a lot more modern in many aspects. Also, it will have a Diesel engine along with a longer list of features. All this will lead to an increase in the prices. However, we are pretty sure the price rise will be justified through many improvements the new car will have over the current model. Prices of the new Brio could start at roughly Rs 5 lakh, for the petrol model, and Rs 6 lakh, for the Diesel model. The top-end Diesel model could cost roughly Rs 8 lakh. Akin to the current model, even the new 2018 Honda Brio will be produced at the manufacturer’s Tapukara production facility in Rajasthan.
New 2018 Honda Brio Specifications
Engines | 1.2-litre iVTEC Petrol/1.5-litre iDTEC Diesel |
Max. Power | 85 BHP/99 BHP |
Peak Torque | 109 Nm/200 Nm |
Transmissions | 5-speed Manual, CVT/6-speed Manual |
One of the biggest reasons the Brio couldn’t fare better on the sales charts is the lack of Diesel engine option. The next generation model, however, will offer a choice between a petrol and a Diesel engine. While the petrol variants will have an updated version of the current 1.2-litre iVTEC engine, the Diesel variants will get an updated version of the 1.5-litre iDTEC motor available on the Amaze compact sedan. There are good chances that the updated version of the Diesel version will offer higher refinement levels. Transmission options for the Petrol engine will include a 5-speed Manual and a CVT. The Diesel engine could get the 6-speed Manual Transmission. Speculations are rife that the new 2018 Brio could even get AMTs.
New 2018 Honda Brio Mileage
Petrol | 19 KMPL |
Diesel | 28 KMPL |
The new 2018 Honda Brio will be slightly more frugal than the current model. Hence, it will offer a higher mileage. While the petrol engine variant should have a claimed mileage of around 19 KMPL, the Diesel variants, which will have one of the most fuel efficient engines in India, should offer a mileage of 28 KMPL.
New 2018 Honda Brio Rivals
The new Brio 2018 model will be squarely pitted against the new Maruti Swift. Other than the new generation Swift, the 2018 Brio will also rival the likes of Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo, and Tata Tiago.
New 2018 Honda Brio Colours
- Rallye Red
- Alabaster Silver
- Urban Titanium
- Orchid White Pearl
- Taffeta White
Currently, the Brio is available in as many as five colors. We’re kind of sure that these will be available even on the 2018 model. Additionally, the car could even get a couple of fresher shades.
New 2018 Honda Brio Exterior & Interior
While it’s true that the new Honda Brio 2018 will share its platform with the current model, it’s very much for sure that the car will have an all-new design both for its exterior and the interior. It’s also expected that the new car will offer more space. The current generation Brio has received some flak for a cramped interior and it’s likely Honda will address this issue with the next model. While details on the new design are scarce at the moment. we are hoping the new Brio will look sharper and more modern. The car is expected to come with a sleeker nose and a sharper set of headlamps. Also, the car will have a new grille and probably a sportier set of bumpers. In the side profile, the car might continue to have the wedge-shaped profile. While the rear-end is also likely to see a major makeover, the glass 5th door might continue to be on offer. Overall, the car will look more modern and more premium.
Talking about the interior of the new model Brio, it will offer an all-new design and could be much more spacious. The interior will also offer many new features such as a touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and more. We are hopeful that the rear seat will have enough space to seat three adults in considerable comfort. ABS and Airbags will be standard across all trims.
