Skoda has just launched the new Octavia facelift in India. Occupying a spot in the lower-D segment, this sedan is priced at the premium end of its category. The Octavia facelift came out in the international market some time ago. Now that it is in India too, we decided to check out how it stacks up against the pre-facelift Octy. So, here’s our new 2017 Skoda Octavia vs Old Model Octavia comparison to see what has changed in the new facelift vis-a-vis the old car.

Car | Minimum Price | Maximum Price |
New 2017 Skoda Octavia | ₹ 15.49 lakh | ₹ 22.89 lakh |
Old Model Octavia | ₹ 16.64 lakh | ₹ 22.65 lakh |
Skoda has launched the new Octavia at a lower price owing to benefits from GST implementation. That said, the new Octavia facelift has a lower starting price but a slightly higher price for the top-end model. It still commands a premium over its rivals.

New 2017 Skoda Octavia vs Old Model – Dimensions Comparison

Length (mm) | 4,659 | 4,659 |

Both models, the new Octavia and the outgoing one, are based on the MQB platform. In addition to that, the facelifted Octavia sports a few styling changes only. So, don’t expect all those styling changes to affect the dimensions of the car. However, at over 4.5 metres long, a little over 1.8 metres wide and having almost 2.7 metres of wheelbase, the new Octavia has adequate legroom and elbow room to accommodate even tall passengers with ease.
New 2017 Skoda Octavia vs Old Model – Exterior Design Comparison
The 2017 Octavia sports new styling elements front and back. At the front are new quad headlamps, with two of these flanking the new butterfly grille on either side. All four headlamps have LED DRLs. If you look closely, you can see the outside lamps having LED units. The bumper now is divided into two parts by a horizontal-running chrome strip above which, on either corner, sit the fog lamps. The side remains unchanged. The taillamps get revised LED light signature. The rear bumper sees a slight redesign too..
The outgoing Octavia become the first MQB-based model from Skoda in India. Design-wise, it still looks as great today as it did a few years ago at its launch. In comparison to the old model, the Octavia facelift looks slightly louder and a tad less classy. However, its new nose is likely to grow on us.
New 2017 Skoda Octavia vs Old Model – Interior Design Comparison
As is with most facelifts, the new Octavia’s dashboard is almost the same as the one on the current car. The only changes should be in the form of a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit, though we will get to know more about that when the 2017 Octavia is launched in India. Internationally, the touchscreens have been replaced with bigger units with capacitive touch. Expect the rest of the dashboard – from its dual-tone treatment and centre console to the three-spoke steering wheel – to remain the same. Also expect the door trims to also retain the dual-tone colour treatment with faux-wood inserts. Finally, the seats should continue to be shod with beige-coloured leather, like on the current car.
New 2017 Skoda Octavia vs Old Model Octavia – Conclusion
Price – While the starting price of the Octavia is now lesser, the top-end model has got a bit pricier.
Specifications – Comparing the spec sheet, it’s easy to see there is no change in the engine options or power-torque outputs of the two models. This is because the facelift brings in only a handful of styling changes.
Mileage – Since the engine lineup of the new Octavia is the same as the old model, the mileage stays the same too.
Dimensions – Both cars are based on the same platform and belong to the same generation. Hence, both cars have same exterior dimensions. Even the ground clearance and wheelbase of the two cars are the same. This means if you liked the outgoing car for its space, you may like the new Octavia too.
Design – The facelift sports only a few new styling bits. Design and style being a subjective thing, you may like the new car or not. That said, we do prefer the slightly understated elegance of the pre-facelift over the comparatively louder, W212 Merc E-class inspired, headlamps. However, we do wait for the new car’s launch to see it in person before coming up with a final opinion.
