Bajaj Avenger Street and Cruise overview
Bajaj Auto’s budget cruiser, the Avenger, has been given a comprehensive makeover. Along with cosmetic updates, Bajaj has also given the bike a new heart in the form of a 150cc unit. Although there is currently no competition to the Avenger in India and was selling in decent number even without any major promotional campaigns, the bike had started showing its age and was in dire need of a comprehensive makeover. The manufacturer has been updating its range with the Platina, Discover and Pulsar getting facelifts. With the festive season already underway, the new Bajaj Avenger is sure to benefit from the spike in demand usually associated with this particular period every year. Before we come up with a comprehensive new 2015 Bajaj Avenger Street Cruise review, here’s an overview of the bike.

Design
While the basic design is identical to the current bike, the new Avenger is now available in two variants – Street and Cruise. The Street variant gets a plethora of additions which help enhance the coolness factor such as an all black paint scheme with red highlights, mag wheels, black exhaust, black painted engine, new grab rail, new instrument cluster and much more. All these editions are reminiscent of the Harley-Davidson Street 750, but they do help in enhancing the Avenger’s appeal.

Meanwhile, the Cruise trim is quite similar in design to the current Avenger with a few new additions. It also gets a new instrument cluster, new grab rail, new exhaust pipe design and possibly new body graphics. The Cruise variant comes with a generous helping of chrome. Cruise 220 borrows handlebars from the Street and will be available in Blue and Matte black.
Specs
Aside from the current 220cc mill, Bajaj has also plonked the 150cc unit into the Avenger in order to sell it at a cheaper price point and also make it more accessible to the masses. This 150cc unit has been borrowed from the old Pulsar 150 with power figures hovering around 14.5 PS and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm. The 220cc engine is likely to be carried over unchanged putting out around 19 PS of peak power and 17.3 Nm of peak torque. We will not be surprised if Bajaj brings in a 200cc version as well powered by the Pulsar AS200’s engine.
