The latest breed of Mahindra EVs are designed for international markets with all the new-age bells and whistles
The iconic music composer, A R Rahman, has decided to book the new Mahindra electric SUV. It is unclear whether he opted for the BE6 or XEV 9e. In any case, the booking for these modern EVs is underway starting today. Based on the INGLO platform, these new EVs bear striking exterior designs for an imposing road presence, the latest tech and convenience amenities and powerful specifications. A R Rahman Books Mahindra EV

In fact, the latter clearly mentions that A R Rahman created the Soundscape for these electric SUVs. That, in itself, is a huge deal and gives credibility to these products. In this brief interaction, he takes the XEV 9e out on the testing track. He is seen driving the vehicle with enthusiasm and vigour. While driving, he mentions how inspiring the process of driving is which lends itself well to come up with an appropriate music piece. After a detailed test drive, he confirmed that he was booking the SUV.
Mahindra XEV 9e
The electric SUV comes with two batteries – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These offer a range of 542 km and 656 km of range on a single charge, respectively, as per the MIDC. Also, there is a compact โthree-in-one powertrainโ (motor, inverter, transmission). This results in total power and torque outputs of 286 hp and 380 Nm with the larger battery and 231 hp and 380 Nm with the smaller unit. With a 175 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be juiced up from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.8 seconds. The prices range from Rs 21.90 lakh to Rs 30.50 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mahindra BE 6
The Mahindra BE 6 also possesses the same battery pack options – 59 kWh and 79 kWh, offering an ARAI-rated range of 535 km and 682 km (550 km on WLTP), respectively. With the same โthree-in-one powertrainโ (motor, inverter and transmission) as the XEV 9e, the power and torque ranges from 228 hp / 380 Nm for the smaller battery to 281 hp / 380 Nm for the larger one. It takes 20 minutes to charge the battery from 20% to 80% using a 175 kW DC fast charger. Furthermore, the EV offers 3 drive modes โ Range, Everyday and Race. In the most aggressive settings, the 0-100 km/h comes up in just 6.7 seconds. The cost starts at Rs 18.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 26.90 lakh, ex-showroom.
