As you must be aware, MG Motors or the Morris Garages, owned by SIAC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation), is all set to enter India with the launch of their first product by Q2 2019.
The SIAC owned British automaker is yet to officially confirm its product line-up for the Indian market. That said, the word on the street is that Morris Garages’s maiden vehicle in our country will be a premium SUV. Not only this, but the vehicles to follow immediately afterwards will be an all-electric utility vehicle in the price range of INR 25 lakh.
So what does the future line-up of Morris Garages cars in India is going to look like?
Morris Garages Baojun 350
MG Motors first product in India is going to be a premium SUV based on the China exclusive Baojun 350. The same has already commenced its testing phase in India and as mentioned before will make its debut in India during Q2 2019.
This SUV, though a 5-seater, measure more than the recently launched Honda CR-V 7-seater. Dimensionaly it clocks 4655 mm in length 1835 mm in width and 1760 mm in height.

When launched in India, the MG Baojun 350 is going to offer both petrol as well as a diesel engine in its portfolio. The diesel engine is going to be the same 2.0-litre, Mulit-jet oil-burner which does its duty on the Jeep Compass. However, the specs of the petrol engine haven’t been confirmed as of yet.
Prices are estimated to fall close to the mark of INR 17 lakh. With this, the MG Baojun 350’s competition will include the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV5OO.
Morris Garages E ZS
After the debut of the Baojun 350 based SUV, Mg Motors is most likely to debut an all-electric urban utility vehicle in the Indian market. The automaker currently has two SUV for which it has an all-electric model globally.
These are the ZS and the RX5. Now, for the Indian market, it would make sense for MG Motors to debut the electric version of the ZS SUV. This is because, in terms of its dimensions, it measure close to Hyundai’s Kona all-electric SUV set to launch in India next year.

If launched, the E ZS will be the perfect rival for Hyundai’s all-electric offering as it will have the potential to fall in the same price range of INR 25 lakh.
The MG Motors E ZS SUV gets a 48 KW Lithium-Ion battery pack. Its electric motors produce an equivalent of 115 BHP along with 255 Nm of peak torque. On a full charge, the E ZS has a range of 425 Km.
Morris Garages RX5
For exploring the bounds of the current compact urban SUV segment and to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Motors is expected to launch the RX5 SUV in the Indian market.
The test mule of the same has already been spotted testing on Indian roads several times. Just like it competition, this ones is going to come loaded with features such as LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers among other features.

In terms of its engine specifications, the MG RX5 is likely to come to India in both petrol as well as diesel engine configurations. In the international markets, this SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of churning out 217 BHP of power along with 350 Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities is taken care of by a 6-speed manual transmission.
