This modified Toyota FJ Cruiser is based on a 2005 Mahindra MM550 NGCS platform and it really looks quite authentic. This vehicle is based out of Mumbai.
Toyota has a lot of models on sale internationally that they do not offer in India. One among them is the Toyota FJ Cruiser which they never launched in India but there are many of us enthusiasts who would love to see it here in India. But Indians can be quite creative when it comes to modifications and here we have a perfect example of that. Coming across a well-maintained classic FJ cruiser even in the international market can be quite a difficult task. But here in India, this modified Toyota FJ cruiser is actually based on a Mahindra MM550 New-generation Chassis and Suspension (NGCS).
This modification job has been carried out by WS Design, a restoration garage that has transformed many such classic vehicles over the years. This FJ Cruiser has been built on a 2005 Mahindra MM550 NGCS and boy, what a job. This modification job looks really authentic, more so in this iconic sky blue color. This modified Toyota FJ Cruiser is powered by a 3.0-litre 1KZ-TE turbocharged diesel engine from a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. This 3.0L diesel engine from Toyota is renowned for the power and torque it generates and its also known for its bulletproof reliability. The engine comes mated to a manual transmission from the Toyota Fortuner.
Mahindra’s MM550 NGCS is an extremely sturdy platform but this mod-job however does not give this SUV a four-wheel drive train. This SUV thus has 2WD system and although it will not be able to tackle really challenging off-road situations, it will be more than capable for some mild off-roading due to its high ground clearance. This FJ cruiser comes fitted with huge 33-inch offroad tyres from Maxxis Bighorn and it really gives the SUV a a butch stance.

The round headlamps have multiple LED elements fitted inside and the two-tone paint job with the white roof and grille really look cool. The rear of the vehicle gets the square LED block type tail lamps. At the rear, the spare wheel also gets an off-road inspired guard rail. The modification job has been carried out to make this Toyota FJ cruiser look as authentic as possible.
