Powering the new special edition Thar Daybreak Edition is a 2.5-litre CRDe Diesel engine that is available on the regular Thar. This engine outputs a max. power of 105 BHP at 3,800 RPM and a peak torque of 247 Nm at 1,800 RPM–2,000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that can send power to all four wheels. The modified Mahindra Thar Daybreak carries no performance upgrades, except for a Rear axle differential lock system. However, the fairly modern 2.5-litre Common Rail Diesel engine offers at least decent performance for on/off road applications.
