Car customization is slowly gaining popularity amongst the Indian car enthusiasts resulting in some really good, as well as really bad examples of car customization. And by customization, we mean serious exterior, interior and performance enhancements and not cheap paint or sticker jobs. We have, in the past, brought you a few tastefully modified vehicles including some by DC and also other popular customizers. We came across some really interesting modified cars in India based on some of the most popular models. In this post, we have compiled a list of best modified cars in India.
Car customization is on the rise simply because people want their beloved vehicles to stand out from the crowd and have their own unique identity. Then there are people who want to extract whatever extra performance they can from their vehicles. Some even go for full blown engine transplants and mechanical upgrades resulting in some truly monstrous creations.
Modified Cars in India – Modified Honda Civic
It has been quite a few years since the Honda Civic has been discontinued. However, this car still enjoys a huge fan following. There are numerous examples of customized Honda Civics out there. Pictured here is one such example from Kerala. The extensive exterior modifications include new bumpers, new Volkswagen-esque headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, bigger rims with low-profile tires. The custom blue paint job and the black hood and front fenders complement each other well. They have also added a spoiler at the back, twin exhaust pipes and a Formula 1 style light at the bottom.
Information on the mechanical changes is unavailable currently. However, judging by the amount of effort the customizer has put into the exterior modifications we’re guessing there could be some serious firepower under the hood as well.

Modified Cars in India – DC Modified Ford Ecosport
DC’s designs, though not to everyone’s taste, do look striking and can make the car stand out from the crowd. The Ford Ecosport pictured here is one such example. This particular Ecosport has been modified more from the point of view of passenger comfort rather than exterior modification. The headlamps have been replaced by LED daytime running lights and indicator lamps. A thoroughly updated front bumper now houses the headlamps. A large mesh replaces the chrome-plated front grille.
On the inside, DC has turned the Ecosport into a luxurious 4-seater with individual rear seats. They have also reupholstered the interior and added a few LCD screens. It also gets multifunction recliner seats, ambient lighting, etc. No Mechanical modifications have been made to the standard Ford Ecosport. The overall cost of modification is around INR 5 lakhs, excluding the cost of the car.

Modified Cars in India – Mahindra XUV500 INtrepid
Easily among the most dramatic modified cars in India, this modified Mahindra XUV500 looks like it can conquer any off-road challenge thrown at it. The INtrepid has won the top honours at the MOC Custom Car Show held in Bangalore. The car comes with a general paint scheme of matte black with red highlights. The XUV500 has been outfitted with huge tires which could only be accommodated by reshaping the wheel arches. The customizer has added a plethora of LED lights all around the vehicle which, honestly, is a bit of an overkill. Move on to the side and you’ll find a snorkel to help the car wade through deep water. At the back there is a huge bolt on jack, a ladder mounted with an extra fuel tank and more LED lights on the rear bumper.
The interiors don’t see much change except for probably a few extra readouts for the camber angle, direction, etc. Information about mechanical upgrades is not available.

Modified Cars in India – Volkswagen Jetta Jetstream
Gurgaon-based car customizer Autopsyche is known for its tasteful customisations and this Volkswagen Jetta pictured here is one such example. Dubbed the “Jetstream” the car gets serious mechanical modifications which significantly increase its performance. The exteriors get a custom aero-kit which includes a lower lip on the front bumper and a couple of appendages on the sides. We really like the fact that they haven’t gone overboard with the exterior modifications and have kept things simple. The horizontal slats on the grille are finished in red and the black-red paint scheme is also applied to the ORVMs and the Volkswagen logo. Smoked black taillamps and 17″ BC Forged monoblock wheels are some other exterior modifications.
The Jetta gets a remapped ECU which pushes power up to 200 bhp and hence, enhances performance. Other additions include Pirelli P Zero tires, H&R springs & Bilstein dampers, Tarox slotted brake rotors & pads, Green Filter & Magnaflow exhaust, Hotchkis Rear anti-roll bar, Neuspeed Turbo pipe & pulley, USP Traction Control off switch.

Modified Cars in India – Volkswagen Polo by DC
This is probably one of the best DC modified cars in India of the recent times. DC took a standard 5-door Polo hatchback and turned it into a 3-door version. Along with that, the exteriors have been totally revamped. They have added a wide body kit and bigger, beefier tires which give it a very sporty look. The front end has been completely changed with an all new bumper featuring red highlights and projector headlamps with LEDs. The grille is the only bit that seems to have been carried over from the standard car. The rear gets LED tail lamps which have been integrated very neatly with the red highlights surrounding the mesh on the boot. The rear also gets a new bumper with dual exhausts. Interiors remain largely unchanged apart from new racing seats and a few red highlights here and there.
In terms of performance, there isn’t much to write about with the only additions being a performance filter and a free flow exhaust. Also, the windows are now fixed and cannot be rolled down making things a little impractical. And then there is the price. The total cost of the modification stands at around INR 28 lakhs (excluding the car), which is a lot of money. But as far as good customisation jobs are concerned this one of the best we have seen till now.
