Hindustan Motors will soon be seen launching the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV in India and the 2012 Auto Expo has been selected as the venue for it. The car’s launch was due for a couple of months owing to the pricing issues that were being sorted out but now that the brand has made its mind we guess the coast is clear.
The company has found a solution which is known to us as localization. The vehicle will be assembled at HM’s factory at Thiruvallur in Tamil Nadu and will go head to head with Toyota Fortuner, BMW X1 and the upcoming Audi Q3.

Being an SUV it is mandatory to have a powerful engine and therefore the Pajero Sport gets a 2.5-litre, 16-valve intercooled turbocharged CRDI diesel motor capable of producing peak power of 134 hp and 32 kgm of peak torque. Mitsubishi’s tried and tested Super Select 4 WD is the chosen transmission for the car.
The car can accommodate at most seven passengers and has an appreciable ground clearance of 215 mm empowering it with impressive off-roading ability. The interiors are also comfortable and offer immense space.

The car is expected to get an aggressive pricing and will in the range of Rs. 19 and Rs. 24 Lakh.
