Mitsubishi is on a revival path in India with a sharp focus on India centric offerings in the recent time. They have recenly launched the Pajero Sport Automatic and have also revaled that they will launch of 2 new SUVs in India in 2015. Also on the cards are two more cars, a hatchback and a sedan as revealed recently by CarToq.
The ongoing Outlander in India, which is right now with a petrol option only, is likely to get a diesel variant very soon in India as per a report by our fellow blog MotoBash. Mitsubishi officials have indicated the same during the launch of the Pajero Sport automatic in an event in New Delhi India recently.
In SUVs segment, India has a much larger demand for the Diesel variants compared to the petrol variants which is why Mitsubishi is not able to get a larger share of the pie when it comes to SUV market in India. So a diesel variant of the Outlander will definitely help get better sales number of Mitsubishi in India.
Globally, the Outlander is offered in a 2.4 litre 4 cylinder petrol mill which is mated to a CVT gearbox and a 3 liter V6 diesel motor which produces whooping 290+ Nm and is mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission.
Outlander is a well sorted SUV with ample space and good capabilities. With high power, space and sporty character, it makes a good deal with a diesel variant which is expected sometime in 2015. Stay tuned to Car Blog India for updates.
