The subcompact car market is the new talk of the town these days. This category is in demand all around the globe as this category gives the costumer the feel of the sedan with a much friendly price tag. Mitsubishi Mirage has been a successful model in the overseas market and so to continue the success the Japanese automobile giants have decided to launch the Mirage in the sedan avatar which will be reviled in the New York Auto Show to be held in the end of March 2013.
Mitsubishi Mirage is quite popular in Thailand and its demand and craze can be imagined with the stats that it clocked 20000 bookings prior its launch. Now the officials at Mitsubishi have made it official the sedan variant of the Mitsubishi Mirage will be launched in the US at the 2013 New York Auto Show and is expected to go on sale by September.
Mitsubishi officials didn’t revile any further information about the sedan variant of the Mirage but the new car is expected to be powered by a 1.2 litre engine. Such subcompact cars are game changers for any automobile brand as the company can provide the small sedan to the costumer at a price marginally above the hatchback version. The company uses most of the components of the hatchback version which helps it to control its price point.
Mitsubishi Mirage is a good looking car and the sedan variant looks promising too. The sedan version of Mirage is expected to be priced around $15,000 in the USA market. Mitsubishi Mirage will take hands on with the Nissan Versa (Nissan Sunny) and the upcoming Honda Amaze. Mitsubishi is betting high on Mirage to overcome its lacking sales figure.
In India too, the trend of hatch and their notchback or compact sedan versions is quite popular with Swift and Dzire, Etios and Etios Liva, upcoming Brio Amaze and Brio. Also Mahindra’s Verito hatch is also on its way to accompany the Verito sedan. For a long time, the Mirage hatch is being speculated to debut in countries like India and China, so lets wait and watch how the turn of events happens and if Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi decide for these cars for India.
