MG Hector was launched at an introductory price point of Rs 12.18 lakh which undercuts Tata Harrier by a significant Rs 82,000. The SUV comes with a split-headlight design with LED DRL’s on the top and LED Headlights positioned below. Here is a spec comparison between MG Hector vs Tata Harrier.
The SUV also covers loads of features such as 360-degree camera, keyless entry, 6-way power adjustable driver’s and co-driver seat, tyre-pressure monitoring system, all-four tyres disc brake and Infinity sound system.

MG Hector vs Tata Harrier – Engine Specification
MG Hector is powered by three-engine options, 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine. The
2.0L FCA sourced diesel-powered engine pumps 173bhp with 350Nm of torque. On the other hand, Tata Harrier is only available in 2.0L diesel engine churning out 140bhp with 350Nm of torque. The diesel engine which Tata uses is also FCA sourced but is detuned and comes with variable geometry turbocharger.

MG Hector is powered by petrol engine too, a 1.5L Turbocharged petrol motor which will generate a maximum power of 143 bhp with 250Nm of torque. MG Hector is India’s first SUV to get a 48V mild hybrid engine which is more fuel efficient than the turbocharged petrol engine.

The mild hybrid petrol motor is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the other petrol engine comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Prices
The prices of MG Hector are very competitive, as compared with the Tata Harrier. These prices also overlap the prices of Hyundai Creta, which start from Rs 9.99 Lakhs going up to Rs 15 Lakhs.

In terms of dimensions, the MG Hector is simply longer than the Tata Harrier but is shorter through the width. The Hector also sits higher than the Harrier and comes packs more cabin space since its wheelbase is 2750mm.
Design
In terms of design, both cars look quite attractive. Tata Harrier has been on Indian roads for quite some time and looks dominating on roads. The Harrier covers all the premiumness of a modern looking SUV. While it may be generic, it has been executed quite aesthetically. MG Hector, on the other hand, stands tall and is a fresh design to be seen on Indian roads once launched. It sits on 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
On the interiors, both cars are very well loaded with all the convenience features and the dashboard layout of both cars are pretty appealing too. MG Hector packs more features like the large 10.4-inch infotainment system with the i-SMART system.
