MG Motors has finally unveiled the ZS electric SUV in India, it’s second offering. The EV is set to be launched in January 2020, rivalling the Hyundai Kona.
The new MG ZS electric SUV finally makes its debut in India. It is the second electric SUV in India which will be priced under Rs 25 Lakhs, to undercut the Hyundai Kona. The prices will be revealed in January 2020.
MG ZS EV is a B-segment SUV with its dimensions similar to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks. The bookings for the eZS have commenced at select MG dealerships for Rs 50,000. We expect the deliveries to commence by early next year.
Under the hood, the ZS EV gets a 44.5 kW electric motor with a lithium-ion IP67 rated battery. The motor is capable of producing 143 PS of power and 353 Nm of peak torque. MG claims that the ZS EV will offer a driving range of 340 kms.

Three Driving Modes – Eco, Normal and Sport are offered along. The SUV is capable of touching 0-100 km/hr in 8.5 seconds. The electric battery system is Bosch-derived and follows a sophisticated management system with three levels of regenerative braking.
MG ZS EV will be available with five charging options. First will be a direct plug-in through a three-point plug. You also have the option of installing an AC home charger. Fast-chargers will be installed at select MG dealerships which will be open 24X7. On a fast charger, the SUV will be charged up to 80% in just 50 mins. On the regular AC charger, it will take 6-8 hours to be charged fully.
The other two options include Extended charging system and Charging On The Go. MG has confirmed that it will be offering a 7.4 kW AC charger for home, completely free of cost. With this, MG plans to put charging stations in metro cities in every 5 kms by the next three years.

Features onboard include the i-Smart V2 touchscreen infotainment with integrated E-SIM and ability to connect to a Wifi Hotspot, real-time maps with charging locations, LED headlamps, Keyless Entry, Skyroof, Twin-Pod Analogue instrument console with digital MID, Rotary Gear Knob, Electronic Parking Brake, inbuilt PM2.5 Air Filter and Auto Start-Stop System.
Initially, the MG ZS EV will only be available in five cities – Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The manufacturer is developing its own public charging stations, initially at MG dealerships itself.
