Bookings for the MG Gloster are now open for Rs 1 lakh and along with that, MG has also revealed all details about the SUV including its engine specs, dimensions, variants and features on offer. The launch is scheduled around Diwali.
MG Motors have officially unveiled the Gloster in India and the company has also opened bookings for the SUV, with the booking amount pegged at Rs 1 lakh. You can either book the SUV online at MG’s official website or visit your local MG dealership. MG Motors have also revealed all the specifications, dimension, variants and most other details about the upcoming full-size SUV. Let us tell you about the MG Gloster in a little more detail.
The MG Gloster will be available with a 2.0L diesel engine in India in two states of tune. The first features a single turbocharger and produces 163hp and 375Nm. The higher-spec engine comes with twin-turbochargers and produces a much healthier 218hp and 480Nm. Both the engines will come mated to an 8-speed gearbox as standard. The lower-spec engine will be offered with two-wheel drive only while the high-spec engine will come with shift-on-the fly four-wheel drive with selectable drive modes.
The MG Gloster will be available in four trim levels in India – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The Savvy and Smart variants of the Gloster will be only available in a 6-seater configuration – captain seats for the middle row – while the Super variant of the Gloster will feature a 7-seater configuration only. The MG Gloster Sharp variant can be specced with either of the seating arrangements.
We also have our hands on the dimensions of the Gloster and its by far the largest SUV in the segment. The Gloster will command a huge presence on the road owning to its massive footprint. It is the longest and the tallest SUV in its class with its width only being marginally lesser than the Mahindra Alturas G4. It also has the longest wheelbase in its class and that should translate to a great amount of space on the inside.

This being an MG, we have to talk about its features list because its really expansive. The MG Golster will come loaded with features such as 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, i-Smart connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, powered and heated front seats, ventilation, memory and massage function for the driver seat, 3-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitor, a powered tailgate, LED headlamps and more. Safety features include six airbags, a 360 degree camera, ESP, traction control, hill-start assist and hill descent control, to name a few.

But where the Gloster really takes things a notch higher is with its semi-autonomous driver assistance functions. While Ford already offers the Endeavor with a handsfree parking feature, the Gloster comes with many segment-first features such as Lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, auto park assist and adaptive cruise control. The Gloster is expected to sit on the higher end of the full-size, 7-seat ladder-frame SUV segment. Prices are expected to range between Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom), but for that amount of money, you gets lots of tech, a mammoth of an SUV and powerful diesel engines too.
