MG Motors has started testing its first upcoming SUV in India. Earlier, we spotted the camouflaged exteriors and now we have spotted the interiors of the SUV.
The test mule was spotted plying on the roads of Ahmedabad. MG Motors in manufacturing its SUV out of GM’s plant in Halol, Gujarat.
MG-badged Baojun 530 will the first SUV in India. Globally, it is a large 5-seater SUV. However, there are chances of MG Motors launching it as a 7-seater SUV, just for the Indian markets. It will be positioned as a premium SUV.

Talking about the interiors, it seems to give a plus experience. The dashboard gets a black-beige dual-tone colour combination. Silver brushed accents are seen over the AC vents, steering wheel and infotainment system.
The centre console is camouflaged, but looks like it gets a large touchscreen infotainment system. The AC vents stick out uniquely from the centre console.
As it was heavily camouflaged, we cannot explain on its exteriors. However, MG Motors SUV is expected to get a unique styling, its tradition hexagonal shaped front grille and refreshed alloy wheels.
It is speculated that the first SUV would be named as MG Gloster. Following this, MG Motors plans to launch a couple of more SUVs. The list includes a sub-4-metre SUV, a premium B-Segment SUV and an electric SUV.

The B-Segment SUV will squarely go up against Hyundai Creta. The electric SUV is most likely to come in the price range of upcoming Hyundai Kona Electric SUV.
MG SUV is said to come in petrol as well as diesel engine options. It will come with a 1.5 Litre turbocharged petrol unit along with the option of a 2.0 Litre diesel engine. The diesel engine will be a retuned version of Fiat Multijet 2.0 engine.
In its first stint, MG Motors is expected to equip its first SUV with many segment first features. Many segment-first safety features are also expected on this SUV.
We expect the prices of MG SUV to start from around Rs 15 Lakhs going up to Rs 20 Lakhs, easily.

So, rivals will include Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV 500 and some variants of Jeep Compass.
