Many vehicles of MG Motors have been spotted recently while testing. The Chinese carmaker, SAIC will enter the Indian markets under the name of MG. Recently, SAIC’s EV and SUV were spotted, while earlier, MG RX5 was also spotted testing on the Indian roads. They initially plan to invest over Rs 2000 crore in India.
MG Motors is famous in the Middle Eastern Countries, where their SUVs are a hit. It is originally a British automobile company. MG Motors is readying their products with Chinese car maker, SAIC, for the Indian markets as a lot of their vehicles were spied testing recently. Currently, MG will take over GM’s 2,000 crore Halol plant which, where its production will take place. Currently, the plant’s capacity is 60000 units, which will rise to 80,000 units with that investment. MG Motors is a subsidiary of SAIC. The cars that were spied include MG RX5, MG ZS, Baojun 530 SUV and Baojun E100V and another electric sedan. SAIC will launch its own cars but will launch cars of their subsidiaries like Baojun, MG and Roewe. However, these cars would not launch anytime soon and will debut India in early 2019, with the rumoured launch of MG ZS SUV.

The recent one spotted was the E100V. An Electric Vehicle offering by SAIC, it a little smaller than the Tat Nano too. It runs on a 14.9 kWh Lithium-ion battery that generates around 39.43 BHP worth power and 110 Nm worth torque. The battery takes 7.5 hours to full charge and goes up to a range of 160 Kms on a single charge. The highest speed recorded on this EV is around 100 km/hr. Features of the car include Bluetooth connectivity via an in-vehicle PAD, an automatic pedestrian warning switch and an intelligent lock function on charging equipment, as well as power-folding mirrors and a parking camera.
The MG RX5 SUV was also spotted recently. It is a compact SUV which will go against Hyundai Creta. The expected price of this SUV is around Rs 10 Lakhs to Rs 15 Lakhs. Globally it comes only in petrol, but in India, it will get a 1.5 Litre Petrol engine and 2.0 Litre Multijet diesel one. The petrol is capable of producing 166 BHP worth of power and 250 Nm of torque. The diesel one will give power worth of 170 Nm and torque worth of 250 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed Manual Gearbox with an optional 7-speed AT.

Lastly, the Baojun 530 SUV was also spied. Unlike the RX5, this one will be a premium offering by SAIC and will challenge players like Hyundai Tucson and the upcoming C-RV. Globally, the SUV comes with a 1.8 Litre Petrol engine and a 1.5 Litre Turbo-charged petrol. However, in India, it will get the Fiat-sourced 2.0 Litre Diesel engine. Expect this SUV to cost around Rs 20 Lakhs and launch in 2019.
