The production of MG Hector has commenced at its Gujarat plant. The upcoming SUV is scheduled to be launched in India by June 2019.
It’s a well-known fact that MG Motors (Morris Garages) will enter the Indian Car Market by launching the much awaited, MG Hector. The mass production for the same has already begun at their Halol Factory, near Vadodara in Gujarat.
MG Hector will compete with the likes of much popular Mahindra XUV5OO, Jeep Compass and the newly launched Tata Harrier for the modern SUV segment.
MG Hector contributes its design a lot from the Boujon 530 and its exteriors are identical to the Chinese SUV. It sports a large front grille and MG logo at the centre. The split design headlamp with LED DRL’s on the top and LED Headlamps positioned below the front bumper gives a clean look to the SUV.

Chrome inserts are seen in the headlight cluster, front bumper and the side of the car which adds a premium feel to the SUV. Other than that, diamond cut alloy wheels, faux diffuser, skid plates and the floating roof with roof rails are a part of the package.
The interiors of MG Hector may see a beige and grey colour tone along with rich features like a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control AC, 6-way adjustable driver seat, push-button start, keyless entry, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system. The large 10.4″ touchscreen allows iSmart connectivity system which offers built-in apps, voice-assist and artificial intelligence.

MG Hector will be available in 3 engine options. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine generating 143bhp with 250Nm of torque, 2.0L diesel engine producing a power of 173bhp with 350Nm of torque. The third engine will get a 48V mild hybrid system which is said to be a little more fuel efficient than the petrol engine. The SUV will be available in both a manual as well as automatic transmission.
The expected price range for the Hector is believed to be in between Rs 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG Motors have picked upon the right strategy to follow the sales as well as service by working on the ‘one city – one dealer’ plan which will have one primary showroom and one service centre. The brand will have about 50 dealers by the end of June.
